How to Boost your Immunity and stay Healthy over Winter

Okay, so you’ve made the decision to lose weight and you know there is a plethora of information out there….all kinds of diets, eating styles – vegan, mediterranean, keto, paleo…., as well as a thousand different types of exercise plans……so what should you start with?

My advice is to start with your MIND!  This is where everything starts and ends – with the power of your mind.  First we need to have the right Mindset, then we need to be Motivated.  The third key to success is Support.

So let me ask you what happens in this scenario ….

You’ve made the decision to lose the weight and you struggle along for a short while, contending with cravings, feeling deprived, hungry, and feeling like you are in a food prison. Your family and some of your friends are trying to derail you by tempting you with all sorts of “bad foods”.  You have a really challenging day,  weekend or week….and you say to yourself “ohh well, no one knows, so I’ll just take a break and pick it up again next week….”  OR you are trying to quit your cravings and all these hunger pangs are really getting too hard to deal with – “Ohh well, one or two won’t hurt…..”  OR  “It’s just too hard trying to battle with food AND my family & friends trying to tempt me or quiz me about what diet I’m on NOW!!”.

Does this ring any bells? Does it all get too hard?  Is it easier to just stop and contend with the old mind battles rather than add to it…..? For many this is the case and sadly nothing changes.  Starting a diet and trying to lose weight on your own can be a hard and lonely road.

Having support from family, friends or a social group is one of the 3 Key Drivers for weight Loss success.   You can share your weight loss goals, challenges, wins and feel supported and inspired by others who are going through the same things as you are.

Support groups can provide you with healthy tips, tools and useful information and how to find more help as well as fill a psychological and emotional need of simply being “heard” and knowing that others know what you are going through.

So how do they help?

  • Provides encouragement and inspiration
  • Get advice, guidance and ideas
  • Helps us feel like we are part of a strong, engaged community of like-minded people
  • Able to share our wins and our goals
  • Keep ourselves accountable and on track
  • Being able to share a similar journey
  • Maintain our own self-motivation

We should never feel alone and a problem shared is a problem halved and there are many many support groups out there to help people who are on a similar journey.
