Carol Baxter, the history detective, started tracing her family history while she was still a high school student. She eventually turned her hobby into eight different career pathways, including teaching genealogists how to research and write.
Carol believes that genealogists — along with most other people — wish to be entertained while being educated. Since many books and talks about the fundamentals of genealogical research can be dry and offputting, she decided to write a humorous beginners' book and prepare an associated talk.

Have you ever asked yourself “Who am I?” or “Why am I here”? Some people seek answers in philosophy or religion or other forms of spirituality. But there’s a simple scientific explanation that overrides all others. We are here because an awful lot of people had a Fantabulous Time. And as genealogists – as family history researchers – we are trying to identify them so we know who we should blame ... for everything.
This book provides a simple guide to the art of chasing our own tale.
