Why narcissism is good
10 February 2023
Narcissism is not good.
Narcissism is a personality trait characterized by excessive self-love, a sense of entitlement, and a lack of empathy for others. While some research suggests that mild forms of narcissism can be linked to positive outcomes such as increased confidence and assertiveness, more extreme forms of narcissism are associated with a range of negative outcomes such as relationship problems, difficulty regulating emotions, and poor mental health.
It's important to note that narcissism is not the same as healthy self-esteem or self-confidence.
It's important to note that narcissism is not the same as healthy self-esteem or self-confidence. While having a healthy sense of self-worth is generally beneficial, narcissism involves an excessive preoccupation with one's own abilities, status, and appearance, often at the expense of others. This can lead to a range of problems in personal and professional relationships and can negatively impact the narcissist's mental and emotional well-being.
In short, while mild forms of narcissism may have some benefits, it is generally not considered to be a positive personality trait, particularly when it reaches the extreme levels associated with narcissistic personality disorder. Instead, a healthy balance of self-esteem and empathy for others is generally seen as a more positive approach to living a fulfilling and meaningful life.
