Expanding Into Self: The Alignment of Internal Family Systems and Non-Ordinary States
Richard Schwartz, PhD, is a systemic family therapist, academic, and founder of the Internal Family Systems model (IFS). In response to clients’ descriptions of various parts within themselves, he developed IFS, which is an evidence-based and widely-used form of psychotherapy, used particularly with trauma. It provides a non-pathologizing, optimistic, and empowering perspective and an effective set of techniques for working with individuals, couples, families, corporations, and classrooms.
Dr. Schwartz is on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is the founder of the Center for Self Leadership, which offers professional and public training. Dr. Schwartz has published over fifty articles about IFS and is the author of bestselling books such as No Bad Parts. He is a highly sought out speaker for both public events and national professional organizations. His website is ifs-institute.com
