How to Start a Journaling Practice
The first thing to know is that this is your personal practice, so there is no right or wrong way to do it! Secondly, it's time to get yourself a journal that you LOVE! There are so many journals available on the market now, but I get mine from Kmart. They're cheap and have a heap of variety! Plus if you love this practice like I do you will start to accumulate quite a few!
Then open up the first page and just start writing! You can write about your day, your feelings, your children, your relationships, what you're grateful for right now! It's not so much about what your writing but about how it feels to write. Does it make you feel lighter, help you gain more clarity, help you to feel like your getting things off your chest, grateful for the life you have?
If you are starting to connect with your higher self and your soul, a journal practice is a beautiful way to encourage that re-connection. You will be surprised at the messages you start to receive. If you are an old hand at journaling, you might want to take it one step further and try automatic journal writing. It's something I love to encourage my clients to do in our coaching series together!
When it came to writing my books, I actually went back through my journals for clarification, material and insights! So if you have ever wanted to write a book, journaling is a great place to start!
