Economic Development
SEAGO's Economic Development Strategic Objectives are modeled after its CEDS, a comprehensive strategic plan that aggregates data, insights, and the collective direction of SouthEastern Arizona's Economic Development projects:
SEAGO provides Technical Assistance for three Economic Development categories:
1) Critical Infrastructure. Quality internet connectivity is a must for an economy to prosper because of the inherent capabilities individuals and established organizations rely on in a modern society.
SEAGO is currently working on a Broadband Master Plan which will support infrastructure construction for high speed internet.
2) Workforce Development. It's not secret that rural Arizona has struggled for many years to retain its younger population demographics.
While there's no singular failure point in why young people are leaving Southern Arizona, what is clear is the need for a strategy to diversify local talent pools so as to bring outsiders in who are interested in a rural setting, whether they're low-to-moderate income earners, skilled technical experts, or savvyentrepreneurs.
A Bi-National Workforce Program, focused on Intrapreneurship training and sourcing a pipeline of skilled professionals that can fill regional open job positions, is a long-term strategy of SEAGO's to support the regional workforce.
3) Business Development. A robust and resilient economy relies on the strength of its businesses.
SEAGO's Value Builder System supports 4 key elements of business improvement:
- Engineers
- Engines
- Dials
- Systems
