Diemo Ruhnow (MBA, Dipl. Trainer, MSc.) with more than 20 years of successful experience at every level - the last 12 as full-time coach at international level representing Germany at the Tokyo Olympics.
Working as a coach since 1998 on all levels from club to national team, Diemo Ruhnow will help you to develop your potential on and off the court or field.
Alongside his diploma studies in Mathematics, he started to develop his career as a coach. In addition to the highest coaching certifications in Germany, he studies at the performance sport university in Cologne, finished the DBV mentorship elite-program and graduated with distinction from the Master of Science Sport Coaching program of Leeds Becket University in England. Alongside his Chinese studies in Beijing and Changsha (China) he trained with future Olympic and World Champions, finished multiple different coaching diplomas and went through two distinguished mentorship programs at Mark Verstegen's EXOS (former Athletes' Performance) and Michel Boyle's Strength and Conditioning.
After starting coaching at club level, he was regional coach for the U13-U19 teams in Hamburg and later become Head Coach in Hamburg developing the training center into a National center - with this leaving to Austria for new challenges as National Junior coach. 2010 he was honoured Hamburg Coaches of the Year award across all sports.
In 2013 he started working for Badminton Germany again as National Coach Women's Double and S&C coaches for the Women's team and in 2017 he was names Head National Coach Doubles and Mixed. In this time for the first time a German Women's double qualified for the Olympic Games and after 20 years a German Mixed double was winning an individual European medal again. Besides many Grand Prix titles and medals at Europeans the Denmark Open title in 2020 with Isabel Herttrich & Mark Lamsfuss was a special occasion.
Next to the performance training, Diemo is involved in international coaching education in Badminton as well as strength and conditioning, working for national association as well as federations like Badminton Europe or the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Next to this, for years he has been conducting workshops and seminars at grassroots and weekend-warrior level and thousands of players, athletes and coaches already have benefit from his coaching.
Diemo is married and has to young sons. After having coached at the Tokyo Olympic Games he quit his fulltime coaching job with the National team and since then working as teacher in his home town in a more family friendly job.
