Can you imagine a time when you landed a new job and are over-the-moon excited to tell all your friends and family about it. Then, suddenly, you begin feeling a sense of doom that kills your momentary joy. That’s negative energy.
Those lingering fearful thoughts and uncertainty you have about your role in this new job ruins this fleeting moment of joy by creating negative vibes.
Although this harmful, dark, dull energy is something that we cannot necessarily see, it is something that we feel deeply and has deep harmful effects on our body, mind and spirit.
Sensing Negative Energy
You can sense negative energy in different forms from different sources. Here are a few that you might be able to recognize;
Sensing Negative Energy From A Person:
Often, when we meet someone, we unconsciously notice their attitude and vibe towards us. This negative vibe or energy is easy to pick up on, and there isn’t a need to talk to know what kind of energy another person is radiating. For example, a friend dealing with their own difficulties will release bad energy than one who is content in their life.
Sensing Negative Energy From A Place:
Some environments make us feel uncomfortable because of the vibes that they are giving off. For example, you rarely ever feel comfortable at a hospital and will probably feel your emotions cluttering. However, you won’t feel the same at your friend’s house or home.
Sensing Negative Energy From Within:
Humans are capable of sensing the negative energy that they give off as well. For example, when we are dealing with breakups, creative stumps, and confusion about the direction of our life, we often feel like criticizing others and ourselves.
Side-Effects And Symptoms
We can learn how to recognize the negative energy in ourselves by observing whether or not we have the following symptoms;
Feeling fatigued
Headaches
Restlessness
Changing moods
Stomach issues
Anxiety
Heavy breathing
Confusion in your thoughts
Depression
Nervousness
Some of these symptoms end when the source is discovered and dealt with. It’s okay to have bad days and moods, but if the negative thoughts persist, such as anger, jealousy, spitefulness, or defensiveness, these symptoms become permanent, deteriorating our health.
Turning Negative Into Positive
Bringing about a change within yourself will also cause a chain reaction in your environment and with your people. There is no point in prolonging negative emotions when you can overcome them easily.
You don’t want to radiate or feel the negative energy yourself, so every time you feel as if you are overthinking about the difficulties in your life, stop that thought and instead start making a gratitude list. Name a few things that you are grateful for that you could not have lived without and watch how your emotions change.
Similarly, when you feel you are discussing negative emotions, try to divert the conversation to topics that make you happy and uplift your spirits. For example, rather than talking about wars, talk about how your country is helping the affected.
Lastly, you need to recognize that you drive your life. If you feel negative emotions, you decide to, not because someone else is making you. Taking back the control and choose to promote energies that are good for you.
At the end of the day, you own yourself and your life, and no one can make a better decision for yourself than you. So make a better decision and choose positivity.
