Decades of Experience

My name is Sonya Lee and I have been working as a creative, brand marketing strategist for more than 20 years in Los Angeles. I am crazy in love with a life that allows me to travel around the world and create an impact that inspires millions.

 

Having worked with top corporations from Disney to Cisco, Warner Bros. and many more, I've also founded several businesses, speak regularly on stages and help businesses scale, reignite their purpose and tap into long-lasting results and profits.

 

I want to share with you my story, because I truly want to show you that anything IS possible with the right spark of innovation.

 

For most of my life, I've always had this desire to help and serve. I'm a chipper, happy-go-lucky person with an incredibly big heart. I've always known that I was destined to be a voice that inspires, motivates and helps people find happiness. I've always been curious about what makes people tick - how the human existence is designed and shaped by our surroundings, experiences and circumstances.

 

More importantly, I've always wanted to know how I could maximize life's potential. I'm a naturally curious person, interested in: arts, music, entrepreneurship, creativity, spirituality, dance and psychology. All of this is interesting to me because my life wasn't always this exciting.

I was born in Toronto, grew up in Hong Kong and the United States. At an early age, I was sent to live in a monastery that left me emotionally scarred and devoid of knowing my true self. Living in an isolated environment cut off from mainstream society stunted my growth, but in retrospect, gave me a reason to push the boundaries of personal evolution and improve the human experience.

Launching at such a young age left me with little background on what it takes to make it through this world and I had to figure out how to do almost everything on my own. Not just continuing my own education, but in learning how to trust, and let’s not forget the importance of survival and perseverance in an unsheltered world. I was socially awkward at first, but I eventually found my stride.

 

Having a natural love of working on computers and being a nerd at heart, I became a web designer at Warner Bros. with a focus on branding and user-experience. Put another way, I improve relationships between companies and their customers by making website interactions more engaging and enjoyable, directly translating into revenue and profits.

 

Working a full-time job was great, but I wanted so much more! I learned that:

The faster you embrace fear,

the faster you find freedom.

In 2001, while working my full-time job, I started volunteering with non-profit animal rescues. Let's just say that there was a great deal of abuse at the rescue, which proved to be a pivotal point in my business life. With a friend at my side, we accidentally formed our own no-kill rescue in 2003 while holding down my job.

 

The founding principle is loving kindness and holistic care for animals and staff alike. I especially loved that I was able to plant a seed of 'happiness' in the homes of adoptive parents. With great pride I can say that Sante D’or Foundation is still in operation today. We enjoy exceptional community support and even have numerous celebrity fans! (We loved working with James Avery, the dad on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air!)

At this point, I learned that change is painful. If you want more, you have to just go for it.

I eventually went on to work with entrepreneurs such as Ryan Blair at ViSalus (now a billion dollar company), and also helped Disney launch Disney.com itself. I was riding a million-dollar streak and loved every single bit of my time. But after dealing with political nonsense, I did the most impulsive thing ever...

 

I QUIT MY CUSHY JOB ON THE SPOT!

It sparked the birth of my media design company, Mowie Media. Ironically, it was only a few months later that Disney became one of my biggest clients, alongside Warner Brothers, ABC Family, Adobe, PowerBar and many others. Suffice it to say, I’ve never looked back.

 

My thirst for developing businesses and encouraging people to grow led me to launch other startups including Dude I Need A Truck, Muves.com. I was heavily involved in Innovate Pasadena (a community that promotes technology, science, design, and business), and helped create a forum for entrepreneurs called TechSparks.

 

 

It’s been an extraordinary life for sure,

but it has not come without its challenges.

 

 

Starting into life at age 13 without parental guidance also brought much trauma into my life. Without going into great detail, I ended up learning how get myself out of depression and confront my Complex-PTSD.

 

I worked super hard to uncover my most authentic self while peeling away at the negativity, fear and anxiety from my childhood. And while doing so, I accidentally created a framework to put my life into perspective and create a roadmap to success. I'm a total nerd at heart, remember?

 

That was the birth of UX Your Life™, a framework for personal development and UserX™ Method designed exclusively for business growth. As a coach, I am able to use both systems interchangeably to help my clients get the results they deserve.

I always ask myself, what would

life be like had I not chosen myself?

 

Through all my experiences, I’ve learned that personal power is not derived from outside factors. I believe that everyone has the innate ability to uncover their true power, but that needs to come from within.

 

But here's the thing, going deep into our mindset and psyche is painful and scary. But I've been blessed to work with people who trust that I can bring them results. I've been able to help hundreds, if not thousands, of people, entrepreneurs, executives and companies align themselves and create rich-results.

 

I believe that everyone has a gift that can be shared. I believe that everyone plays a role in our existence. I believe that everything happens for a reason (even if you're reading this!). I believe that communication is the key to success and performance, as well as consistency and resilience.

 

My friends often tell me that I'm goofy, funny (bad jokes ahoy!) and really generous. And that's the point. I wholeheartedly believe generosity breeds abundance. When you are able to tap into your gifts and share them in your branding, people begin to recognize you as the go-to person (or business). Referrals begin to happen, respect comes easily and authority is created.

 

It is for these reasons I teach what I teach. I want to empower you to transform your business and help you inspire others. I want you to live a fulfilling life, filled with passion and excitement and let your business fire on all cylinders so that you can get your free time back.
