In this first Module, we introduce you to the course and what we will cover. This is the beginning of your journey to financial visibility in your company!
Almost all financial transactions go in or out of your bank accounts. Cash is king and is like blood to your business. Every dollar that comes in or goes out of your business is given a "name". These names are categories to help us track and understand our financial position.
The Chart of Accounts is the list of "Categories". In this module, you will learn the 5 major types of accounts and how they work. This module is the foundation of all bookkeeping knowledge and will provide the needed context and learning needed for you to be in control of your financial world.
In Module 4 you will learn about the major financial reports that are used to see and understand the financial health of your company. We will review and teach you how to use the following reports:
Module 5 will walk you through examples of real-world transactions to show you how the accounts all work to provide solid and clear financial information.
These examples will answer many of the questions you have about how information is recorded in your financial systems and how you can interpret that information and use it to make better business decisions!
