Instagram: Time Savings Tips 💡
Posted On 17 August 2022
“Instagram is like a full-time job!” I hear you cry as you sit on the sofa with your phone in your hand thinking… what on earth am I supposed to post??? You haven’t posted for a few days, so you grab the latest picture from your phone, write a quick caption describing the pictures, whack in a few random hashtags, press share and wait… crickets!
Nothing happened!
No likes, no comments, nothing..
“That was a waste of time! Instagram hates me” You declare “next time I will plan ahead and know exactly what I am going to post” until next time when you are sitting on the sofa panic-posting!
Does this sound familiar?
Here’s the thing you need to know about Instagram in 2022. The platform is flooded with content. There are over 95 million posts and videos shared every day on Instagram. That is a lot of content you are competing with!
Â
Only a few years ago, your growth was directly related to the quantity and consistency of your postings have changed… Instagram of 2022 is rewarding users who create a community by creating more quality content that engages your followers by encouraging more content interactions… yes, that does mean you can post less often. If you are going to reduce your posting quantity, you will need to bolster this drop in frequency with upping the value in your content.
Â
I bet this makes you happy!
Â
To make your life even easier and to save you even more time, I have put together my list of my most used time-saving tips.
Â
Keyboard shortcuts
Create keyboard shortcuts on your iPhone. Are there certain words or phrases that you are always typing out? Like your email address/website or do you always have to explain exactly how to get to your salon?
Â
Here’s an example:
Â
> Go to Settings
> Keyboard
> Text Replacement.
Â
Planning
Planning will set you free. In The Hairdressers Social Club courses, I teach how to plan ahead so that you never have a moment where you don’t know what to post.
Â
I advise setting aside time every week to plan your content for the week or the month ahead, go through your pictures and videos on your phone, then decide what order you would like to post them in and what your captions will be.
Write it down in your notes app or on my free content planner available on my website. get it here!
Once you have it all written down and saved, you will realise a lot of your content can be reused. There are going to be certain things that just don’t change, such as product shots, videos and images of you and the salon!
You can reuse content as often as you like, simply save the reel or post to your camera roll by tapping the three dots in the corner and choosing SAVE TO CAMERA ROLL.
Â
You can even reuse your caption!
Â
Insta Guides
Guides are probably Instagram’s best kept secret. They are a great way to put content into collections. For example, your guide to blonde hair could have posts of your best blondes, product advice and styling tips for blonde hair.
Â
You can use your own content or content you have saved from other pages. To make a guide from your saved content:
> Go to your "saved" items in the top corner
> Create a collection
> Tap the content you wish to save to a collection
> Create guide
Â
Reels
Create a Reel from your Highlights by holding down your highlights.
Choose "Convert to Reel" from the menu
Instagram has even given you suggested audio to use!
If you don’t have this option yet you will soon!
