OUR PROGRAMMES
FINANCIAL INDEPENDANCE
PROGRAMME
In this programme we support survivors of GBV to gain practical sewing & beading skills, financial literacy and bankability training, and skills training on pathways to sustainable employment or self-employment.
In partnership with
EMPOWERED SUMMIT
In 2021, we hosted our virtual ‘Empowered Summit’, with over 6,000 attendees learning about wealth, health and spiritual empowerment, raising X for the Phakama Community Centre and Safe House in Nyanga.
BOYS TRAINING
PROGRAMME
Since November 2021 we have been running a weekly programme aimed at our male youth in the Nyanga community.
Our programme has many facets but the main aim is to educate our boys on the following subjects:
This programme is currently run every Thursday afternoon by Sanele Gona, in xhosa. We started with about 11 boys between the ages of 7
and 15, and as this has developed, we’ve had up to 25 boys attend.
We have gained so much traction that we are now looking to recruit more facilitators and expand this into other community centers around Cape Town and then to the rest of the country
The aim of this programme is to debunk social norms that perpetuate abuse. We aim to eradicate GBV by talking directly to our male youth about the generational curses that have made society believe that a woman is inferior in any way. To educate our boys that some of their cultural and generational traditions are harmful to woman, children and our society as a whole
Our vision is to raise our boys to be respectful, equip them with the coping mechanisms to deal with their emotions and give them the tools to have healthy beneficial relationships for years to comesupport is helping make the country a better and safer place for women and girls.
