A Drinkable Pool Water System (DPWS) was trademark protected in 2012.  In order to be considered a Drinkable Pool Water System the following 5 components must be included:

1. Titanium Grid Produced Hydroxyl Radicals for Sanitation.
2. High Exposure Time Ultraviolet Light (HET-UV).
3. NSF-61 Certified 3 Stage Activated Glass Filtration.
4. Copper Ionization to Meet Residual Sanitation Requirements.
5. Installation by Installer Certified Through DrinkablePoolWater.com.

The “Drinkable Pool Water System” is a unique blending of four proven sanitizing technologies into one synergistic system. The system is controlled by microprocessor technology with a digital display and uses an advanced electrolysis process of water.

• Our proprietary “stack” oxygenator technology, includes a catalytic AOP mix, which generates powerful natural oxidizers, hydroxyl (OH), atomic oxygen (O1), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and oxygen (O2) from the water molecule itself. Molecular Oxygen (O2) is stable and remains in the water, measured as Dissolved Oxygen (DO). These oxidizers are more powerful than chlorine or ozone, effectively inactivating algae, viruses, bacteria, yeast, fungi and protozoa.

• Developed by NASA in 1967 for the Apollo Space Program to provide safe drinking water, the DPWS also utilizes ionization technology to provide a natural stable sanitizing residual in the water. Copper ions provide a long lasting and effective protection against bacteria, algae and most viruses. Dissolved oxygen in the pool is combined with copper ionization to provide a long lasting healthy and natural sanitizing residual in the water.  

• UVC ultraviolet germicidal lamps inside a 316 food grade stainless steel canister, boost the production of disinfecting OH and H2O2 molecules in the water which is included in Drinkable Pool Water Systems. UV sterilization has been used in drinking water purification for decades. The combining of these technologies, produces an highly effective defense against E.coli, Coliforms, Enterococci, Pseudomonas, Giardia, viruses, algae and chlorine resistant organisms such as Legionella and Cryptosporidium. Since DPWS oxidizers are more powerful than chlorine or ozone and produce a sanitizing residual (DO) in the water, DPWS pools do not require chlorine or other sanitizing chemicals.

• DPWS also employs a 100% bio-resistant self-sterilizing “activated filter media,” AFM®. When in contact with water flowing through the filter, a small amount of free radicals (O and OH) are formed on the surface of the grains. Thanks to their strong oxidation potential, free radicals protect AFM® from colonization by bacteria and fully prevent the formation of biofilm. AFM® made from pure green and brown glass which have the necessary metal oxides to accept the activation process which creates a mesoporous structure with a huge catalytic surface area. AFM® has a surface area up to 300 times greater than sand. Hydroxyl groups on the surface give AFM® a strong negative charge, known as the zeta potential, that attracts organic molecules. Since there is an increased level of (DO) already in the water, it multiplies the effectiveness and longevity of the media. AFM® comes with important certifications such as NSF 50 (swimming pools) and 61 (drinking water) It is a perfect compliment to our AOP, ION, and UV sanitation science!
