Who is Clio?
In 2005 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I was given medication to take for the rest of my life and advice to learn to manage my stress. The side effects of the medication were making me weaker and sicker by the day and I knew I wanted to quit.
I had every symptom you can imagine - constant bloating, diarrhea, constant pain that would keep me bed-ridden for days. There were many hospital-emergency drives. There were nights where I would literally fall asleep hugging my toilet. I could not keep food down and lost 10kgs.
I experimented with almost every diet out there, went through therapy to manage my stress and tried programs to heal my gut. But my flares kept coming back.
One day, I experienced one of the worst flares I had ever gone through and amongst the pain and nausea, I realised that I was looking for a “quick fix” and that the healing would NOT happen from external sources but it was in my hands.
After 7 years of trial and error, I went into remission - it's been a decade! I did this through nutrition and lifestyle approaches. I was so amazed at the results that I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York and became a certified health coach. I acquired knowledge and tools that I implemented first on myself to stay in remission.
What I love now is that I can eat my favourite foods stress-free with my Crohn's under control. I have a great relationship with food and my body. I no longer experience flares and barely any symptoms; I now listen to what my body needs. This is how I was able to stay in remission and how I help others achieve this too.

Most people try to soothe their digestive issue, lower their pain by trying many diets without seeing real, sustainable results. They try to cut out entire food groups hoping to find some relief.
