Are you living the same day over and over again?
Your brain is smart.
It protects you from the guaranteed overload of processing every single input it gets by relying on unconscious processes, turning behaviors into automatic routines.
Just think back to the first time you drove a car or rode a bike – IMAGINE you still needed to use all that brain energy every single time.
No can do, right?
Your brain’s autopilot saves you an enormous amount of mental energy that you can use for other experiences and thoughts.
It’s great for routine tasks, like driving the same route every day (and then wondering how you got there) or brewing your morning coffee (and then wondering if you didn’t want tea today instead).
But it’s crucial to remember this: your brain is built to survive, not thrive.
If you let it, it will also apply these unconscious processes to complex mental activities that require conscious consideration and forethought, such as goal setting or, you know, that tiny task of designing a fulfilling life.
When your brain operates on autopilot, you stick to familiar strategies, simply because they feel safe and automatic – not because they’re the best ones for you.
That’s when you feel like life is "just happening" to you.
Like you're no longer in the driver's seat.
This can be a significant barrier, especially when you're considering stepping into the world of online entrepreneurship or looking to innovate within your existing business.
You find yourself going through the motions and often mindlessly distracting yourself.
