YOUR FULL ITINERARY

Sunset lights up the clouds over the Southern Alps of New Zealand.

DAY ONE

You won't get a better introduction to New Zealand. After your spectacular flight over the Southern Alps into Christchurch, we'll greet you at the airport and drive a few hours south along the east coast to Oamaru. After freshening up and breathing in some of the clearest air in the world, we'll have dinner together and go over our plans for the next few days.

DAY TWO

An early start sees us capturing the glorious morning light on the Moeraki Boulders. Looking more like dinosaur eggs than anything else, they make perfect foregrounds for our landscape photos. After a yummy breakfast we'll head further south to the stunningly beautiful Purakaunai and MacLean Falls. Staying at nearby Kaka Point, this quaint little town will put us nice and close to our sunrise location the next day.

DAY THREE

We'll be up early to capture first light on The Nuggets, a small group of islands off the coast. This is an iconic New Zealand shot. From here we'll head up to Queenstown by early afternoon to check-in to our hotel and download our images from the workshop thus far. In the evening we'll enjoy a yummy meal at one of Queenstown's many fine restaurants.

DAY FOUR

We'll get up for an early morning shoot over the Glenorchy Jetty just 30mins from Queenstown. After breakfast we'll head up the road to the Mount Cook village to check-in to our deluxe accommodation, the famous Hermitage Hotel, which overlooks this famous mountain. You'll enjoy one of the largest buffet dinners in the world at the hotel after our long day - I promise you you'll have to roll out the door!

DAY FIVE

Today is our opportunity to catch up with ourselves, enjoy the landscapes around Mount Cook and edit our images from the workshop. With the inclement weather, this is a catch up day in case we miss anything earlier...

DAY SIX

After our yummy breakfast we'll walk it off by trekking up to the Hooker Lake to shoot icebergs in this magical lake. After that unbelievable start to the day, we drive to the gorgeous town of Wanaka where we'll visit the local ice-creamery to sample a few of the cheeky homemade ice creams on offer from our friends at Pure New Zealand Ice Cream.

DAY SEVEN

After shooting the famous Wanaka Tree - yes that tree!! - we'll hit the road towards Franz Josef Glacier where there's many opportunities to stop and photograph the lush rainforest and waterfalls on the West Coast.

DAY EIGHT

This morning we'll take a drive down the road to Lake Mathieson to capture a spectacular scene. The stillness of the lake will perfectly reflect the mountains behind of Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest peak. If that wasn't enough, jump in a helicopter with me and come exploring on Franz Josef Glacier. We'll spend our time photographing the spectacular ice caves as well as taking our helicopter transport up over the New Zealand Alps to photograph sunset.

Driving up the stunning West Coast, we'll stay overnight at Arthur's Pass to enjoy the scenery of our last full day on the South Island.

DAY NINE

After a well-earned sleep-in, we'll have breakfast, drive down to Christchurch and say our goodbyes before heading for the airport (insert sad face here...).

"Having been on numerous photographic workshops, our recent trip to New Zealand is without doubt the very best. Of course the scenery is brilliant, changing each time we went around a corner. What really made it work though is your warm spirited, generous approach to the participants, combined with your skills as a teacher. I came home with some cracking images, and with greatly increased knowledge about how to capture more in the future. Thanks Tom."
