Why did an estate planning attorney develop this course?
Loved ones are paying me thousands of dollars to probate DIY Wills. Every single DIY Will that I've seen and Probated had major problems. In fact, the families are paying me 3 to 5 times MORE in probate fees because of all the problems created by these DIY Wills than their loved one would have paid me to prepare a proper estate plan in the first place.
The problem, though, is there are people who will never step foot in a lawyer's office. There are some who will never pay a lawyer to prepare their estate plan. Though I can't stress enough the need to talk with an estate planning lawyer and have an attorney prepare your estate plan, I know some people won't do it.
So, I developed this course as a way to give some guidance to those who insist on doing their own estate planning documents. This doesn't replace the advice of an attorney, but I hope if you are at least educated about estate planning, you can have a DIY will that won't be as problematic as I've seen time and again.
To ensure your wishes are honored and to avoid chaos, burden, conflict, and stress on your family - pay an estate planning lawyer to do your will and power of attorney. However, if you refuse to do that, at least watch the videos and read the materials in this course to learn more about estate planning and hopefully avoid some of the problems that arise from DIY wills.
If this sounds like you, these videos are for you.

Estate Planning Attorney Tanya Hendrix
Tanya has been licensed to practice law in Alabama since 2001. She has been a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and family law attorney. Since 2021, she's dedicated her legal practice solely to estate planning and adjacent practices such as: probate, business formations, copyrights, and trademarks.
In her practice, Tanya came across the same questions and concerns time and again. She also began encountering more people who were either trying to do their own wills or had done their own wills. It was heartbreaking to tell families their loved one's attempt to save money by doing their own will is actually costing them thousands more because they didn't create the Will correctly.
As she quizzed clients about why they waited so long to go to an attorney, she learned that many are afraid to talk to lawyers, or they believed they needed to figure everything out first, or they didn't think they could afford a lawyer. Those are the reasons she created this online course.
