Get ready, folks! The heat is on and the excitement is about to ignite! The Central South Carpenters Regional Council brought the game of precision, style, and speed to Austin, Texas with the first round of the Drywall Olympics. On a sun-drenched Saturday, six journey-level carpenters engaged in a riveting showdown of craftsmanship. Their challenge was to hang roughly 65 feet of drywall expertly, navigating outlets, pipes, a door, and corners.
The stakes were high - only two could advance to the Southern District competition in Atlanta, GA on September 8.
It was a close competition! All the participants did an amazing job. In the end, Toribio Marquez emerged triumphant, with Sergio Medina hot on his heels, securing the second spot. Both skilled craftsmen demonstrated exemplary production and skill, earning their tickets for the district competition. They now have an opportunity to showcase their skills at the Nationals in Las Vegas, with $5,000 up for grabs. Hats off to Toribio and Sergio! We salute your talent and wish you the best of luck in Atlanta. Make us proud, gentlemen!
