WRH Retreat & Hui
For Networking, Learning, Sharing, Fun, and Nourishment
24 June 2pm-26 June 2pm
at Kāwai Purapura in Albany, Auckland NZ
Why it's important you come to this event
Quality housing is the foundation of human thriving. We are fed up with seeing the well-being and potential of our children, communities and future generations being compromised by low quality, expensive and insecure housing.
Women across Aotearoa are creating and leading bold and innovative housing initiatives that are redefining housing as a catalyst for thriving communities, that reconnect us to each other and the earth. But, most of us are working in isolation or with limited teams and pushing the paradigm, working outside the box and this is impeding the effectiveness of our potential.
Women have a unique and powerful way of contributing to housing development and place-making, but we cannot do this transformational work alone; together we can achieve more.
Our first WRH retreat 2021 was a massive success with 33 diverse women from around the country coming together to spearhead housing change and create strong connections. But, we still have a housing crisis that needs the kinds of innovative solutions that women can spearhead.
Join us for two full days of inspiration about change that is already gaining traction, networking with dynamic women, and exploration of what is possible to revolutionise housing in Aotearoa New Zealand.
There will be time for personal nourishment and professional enrichment. We aim for you to leave the retreat feeling replenished, connected, upskilled, and ready to roar and soar.
Who's going to be there?
This is an invitation to any woman who feels passionately about creating better places to live--better for people and nature--through housing; creating homes and neighbourhoods that are about connection, belonging, and meaning....
This retreat is welcoming those who have worked in this area for many years and for those who are just starting out with big plans and new enthusiasm. We are a group of diversely talented women working on a wide range of housing initiatives throughout the cities and towns of Aotearoa.
We are hosting the retreat to piggy-back on the CoHo Hui event coordinated by The Housing Innovation Society which will be held on 23 June at AUT. We hope this makes it easy for you to attend both events.

Retreat Centre, Food, Accommodation
Venue
We have chosen the intentional community and beautiful retreat centre of Kāwai Purapura located in Albany, Auckland as it shares the kaupapa and positive energy of our retreat and it offers an affordable venue and accommodation within a lush natural environment.
It is also close to the location of the CoHoHui event held on 23 June to make it easy to attend both events.
Food
Breakfast will be self-catering as we have a kitchen within our workshop space. Your registation includes four plant-based meals: dinner on the first night, lunch and dinner on day two, and lunch on day three. We will send out a form that inquires about food allergies. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare yourself supplementary food.

The centre offers a wide variety of accommodation, from camping for $30 to standard single with shared bathroom for $55 to ensuite options with queen beds from $90. Some rooms are suitable for a group of friends or a couple which are reasonably priced, particularly if shared.
Check out the room options here. After you register for the event, you'll be directed to reserve and pay for your room directly with the centre.
Price
Your investment covers all retreat activities and materials for two days, four meals and snacks.
Early bird until 1 June: $370
Regular price: $399
Sponsor a woman to attend
The retreat costs are being kept to a minimum as we'd like this event to be inclusive for any woman who wants to attend. Most women who are driving housing change in their communities are doing so in addition to other work and family responsibilities. Attending this retreat will give participants the support network and connections they need to thrive,...
This event is a great opportunity for individuals who would like to continue or start participating in creating innovative housing alternatives to come together, share experiences and learn, getting and giving support to each other. This retreat is an essential network event to unlock key business connections for professional women in this field.
Transport Sharing
We’d like to help you find or share a ride to the Centre to keep costs and emissions lower. We'll send out a spreadsheet to those that register to be able to find a ride share.
