Tiokasin Ghosthorse is a member of the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation of South Dakota. He is an international speaker with a long history of activism, advocacy and leadership, which led to his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2016.
A master musician and teacher, Tiokasin performs worldwide and has been featured at Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the United Nations. He has been the Host and Executive Producer of the syndicated First Voices Radio for the last 29 years.
Tiokasin was awarded New York City’s Peacemaker of the Year in 2013. Other recognitions include: Native Arts and Cultures Foundation National Fellowship in Music (2016), National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship Nominee (2017), Indigenous Music Award Nominee (2019) and National Native American Hall of Fame Nominee (2018, 2019).
