Breast Cancer Awareness and Support - A Personal Experience
BY PURPLE CO
October is a significant month in Australia, as it marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
You've probably noticed the various pink-themed events, parties, and awareness campaigns that are taking place all around us.
What you might not be aware of is Purple Co's substantial involvement in breast cancer. We have not only been providing our services to survivors since our inception in 2009, but we also have two Consultants who are breast cancer survivors themselves.
Additionally, it's crucial to understand that 1 in 7 adult women in Australia is likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer within a 12-month period. Early detection is paramount in the fight against the disease.
I wanted to share a more personal side of this battle. In 2020, I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. Throughout my journey, I kept a video diary to document my experience. I'm making this diary available to help those who are currently going through breast cancer treatment, letting them know they are not alone.
It also serves as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals and individuals caring for those undergoing treatment. It sheds light on some of the less visible and often unspoken effects of this disease.

Here's to your good health and the power of awareness and support.
