Metabolizing information is a process; just like digesting our food is a process.
from the July 2022 reMothering Newsletter....
Wishing you a tea-sipping, Sunday morning hello.
Some days, I find it challenging to ease into an “easy-like Sunday morning” state of mind. Today is one of those; I am still digesting last week’s United States Supreme Court ruling on women’s rights and privacy rights.
The thought that brings me hope is remembering the power that comes from living from inside-out LOVE.
As we each do our remothering work, and we build our relationship between us & us, we grow our capacity to hold two things at the same time. To hold what is, and to hold hope. To be awake in the current circumstances, but to remain rooted in our Wise Self rather than shifting into our adaptations without even realizing it. To be able to sit in the discomfort and the unknown but remain present with ourselves.
Because when we remain able to access our inner wisdom, there’s hope.
From my heart to yours,
Simona
When we eat a meal, we know our amazing bodies get to work digesting. It’s a process, and it takes time. Yet, when we take in information, we don’t always remember that the information also needs to be digested.
And just like we can’t expect digestion of our food to happen faster than the body’s natural process, the same is true for how we process what we are experiencing.
As our reMothering Masterclass week one speaker Lynn Fraser taught us, our nervous systems are always looking out for us, but they are not always doing the right thing based on the CURRENT circumstances. Here’s one way that could play out…
For me, what that means is that I can give myself permission to not have figured things out yet. To hold two things. To hold that I am very upset by last week’s Supreme Court ruling, and that there’s a lot more that still needs to be digested. If I tried to take this in all at once, I may go into a fear response. Which could look like fight/flight/freeze or like running old patterns and adaptations without even realizing it. None of those possible responses will be as effective as if I can stay in connection with my Inner Wisdom and keep taking the next helpful action and then the next until I have more clarity for how I want to CHOOSE to respond. Taking the next one step doesn't mean in-action, it means taking on what my nervous system can digest. (ideally, without shaming myself of having a human body and human responses to social threat)
Metabolizing information is a process; just like digesting our food is a process.
At the other end of the spectrum, we can experience something overwhelmingly wonderful. And even when we are full of gratitude for what we’ve just experienced, even when it’s something we’ve hoped for and worked for, metabolizing information is still a process.

Is Self-Forgiveness Outrageously Selfish?
Let me start with the punchline: self-forgiveness is an act of love that ripples into the world and creates more love.
For some of us, because of early programming, we tend to link the words self-anything with being selfish. That creates a unique set of challenges when it comes to self-forgiveness
