Is it possible to go from zero flexibility to achieving splits in 30 days?

For those of you who think you’ll never achieve any impressive degree of flexibility, let us break the news to you: YES, you can!

But before you go from zero to splits, know that it's going to take some time to get there. The journey of a thousand miles always starts with a single step and working on flexibility is important for a lot of reasons.

The way you’re going to gain flexibility is by practicing

If you have ever been told or led to believe that doing the splits is easy and can be accomplished within a few days or even a week, then we are sorry to burst your bubble. It is not realistic for most of us. Patience with your body and determination to achieve set goals will be your greatest assets as your body learns just how flexible it could get.

Keep the challenge going but don't forget that rest days are equally important

Time to recover from the soreness you experience is as much important as practicing. Rest allows your muscles to rebuild and grow and when you have more muscle, you'll burn more calories at rest. Additionally, when you feel refreshed, you'll be more likely to stick to your routine.

Learn your body and your daily moving habits

People experience and show progress at different rates and speeds. While some people are quick study, others take quite a while to master things. The body also follows this principle, besides some people are naturally more flexible than others and those who are exposed to different sporting activities might find it easier than those who are not.

Progress slowly and try 1-2 advance exercises

To achieve the splits, you need to prepare your body for it. Ensure that your body is properly warmed (do not attempt the splits with cold muscles). When you are able to achieve basic stretching poses, you are very much ready to attempt more advanced exercises (such as the King Pigeon Pose or the King Lizard Pose) , even if you are still experiencing some difficulties achieving it.

I've been trying the online flexibility course to start rebuilding my core strength and condition my body as I start skate training. The classes are also helping me with my personal splits challenge for Spring and I sleep like a baby after a session."
