Optomap

The Optomap takes a wide view picture of the back of your eye.  This shows the light sensitive layer at the back of the eye called the retina, your optic nerve which transfers the light received in your eye to your brain where it is processed to be the world you see around you.

As well as this checking the health of the eyes, it is also very useful in checking other health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Your optometrist can explain the Optomap in more detail and offer advice regarding your health.

OCT

The OCT is a 3D scan of important structures within the eyes.  Again, this amazing technology can help detect eye conditions and give an overall picture of the health of the eyes.

The OCT is particularly useful at measuring and analysing the optic nerve and monitoring any changes which could be linked with Glaucoma.

The OCT is instrumental in the assessment of the macula – this is the area of central vision and fine sight which can be affected by macular degeneration.
