I am definitely a picky pen person. I want it to be comfortable to hold. I want it to write smoothly and just gliiiiiiiide along when I'm writing. I don't want it to turn into a smeary, smudgy mess when I write. And, definitely NO ink blobs or clumps!
Anyone else with me here?
If I thought about it long enough, I probably have a few different pens that I prefer, but for today, I'm going to tell you about my favorite erasable pens, which are HANDS DOWN the Frixion pens made by Pilot.
These are the ONLY pens I use to write with when I do my daily/weekly planning.
// Things I love about Frixion pens:
1. They ERASE!!! -- As I mentioned, these are the only pens that I use when I do my planning -- I plan on paper.
I am not the type of person whose planner is a work of art with beautiful hand lettering and stickers. However, I do still want my planner to be tidy.
I don't like when my planner has a whole bunch of crossouts and scribbles all over the place, and these pens let me have a tidy planner, just as I like it!
Check out this little video to see the writing and erasing in action!
(I am also demonstrating the Frixion highlighters, which I will be giving you my thoughts on in an upcoming post!)
2. They don't really smear -- Who wants to write stuff down only to have it turn into a smudged mess? Not this mom over here! So, I definitely appreciate that, when I write with these pens, the ink dries pretty quickly so that whatever I've written isn't getting smeared.
3. They're comfortable to hold -- The Frixion pens have a comfort-grip feature, which I find to be nice. Gives it that nice little extra touch!
4. They're retractable -- I really like retractable pens. I find them to just be easier.
I know it's not a big deal to take off a pen cap and pop it on the back of the pen. I just, personally, prefer retractable pens. One less thing -- the pen cap -- to keep track of, right? Haha!
However, if you are a through-and-through stick pen type of person, I've got you covered! You can check out Frixion's stick pen option here.
5. They're refillable -- To save a little money and be a little kinder to our planet, I think it's great that there are refills available for the Frixion pens. Again, just one of those extra things that's a nice touch!
6. They come in a bunch of different sizes and colors -- This is super-fun, I think! Personally, I like the 0.5mm, retractable, black pens. However, here are some of the options!

// Things I don't love about Frixion pens:
1. On rare occasion, they don't erase as well as I'd like -- While I am typically happy with how these pens erase, every once in a while I'll find a type of paper where these pens don't erase as cleanly as I'd like -- for example, some (but not all) types of colored paper.
2. They can be a bit spendy -- What someone considers to be expensive is such a subjective thing. So, this is tough for me to comment on, but I thought it was still worth including in this section.
Are these pens the most expensive ones out there? Definitely not!
Are these pens more expensive than a box of plain old disposable stick pens? Yes, for sure.
At the end of the day, you can decide if you like the price tag for these pens or not.
For me, I think the price is reasonable enough, and for how much I love using these pens, paying a little bit more is definitely worth it to me. (But, remember, I'm a picky pen person. So, I'm willing to spend my money on having a nicer pen and a nicer writing experience!)
Ok! That's all she wrote! (Oh how I just couldn't stop myself there! Good ol' puns...)
If you decide to give Frixion pens a try, I hope you like them as much as I do!
Heeeey, Sweet Sister! I'm Alicia, and I'm so excited that you're here! I love a lot of things in life, but at the top of my list are my wonderful husband, my two precious kids, and helping other planner-mamas get back their joy and peace in life through intentional, functional planning!
