THE GIANT LEAP
I remember the exact day and time when I made the decision to go self-employed. I loved my job, but not the environment I worked in... then one day, someone said “why don’t you do this for yourself?”
My initial response was “Because I don’t know how.”
For me, there were 2 pivotal elements to making 'the giant leap.' One was business acumen, of which I had very little experience, and the other was having the confidence and resilience to put yourself out there, supported by an unwavering self-belief in your ability to succeed.
When it comes to 'knowledge' there will always be someone to turn to for support and advice, but when it comes to having the courage and grit to make it happen, you either have it or you don't, and during those early months and years, I began to see that those who didn’t have it, soon lost their way and gave up.
I knew that I was the only one who could secure my future, so those were the traits I put my heart and soul into developing.
That’s why I know that being in business is tough.
