Presented by Amanda Robinson, LPC-S, RPT-S™
Learning Objectives
Anger and aggression in children can be intimidating for play therapists, but it doesn’t have to be!
Research shows over and over that play therapy is beneficial for reducing anger and improving emotional regulation. This presentation aims to empower play therapists and increase their comfort level with anger by “tapping into” therapists’ own creativity and problem-solving.
Participants will learn about theories of anger, ways to respond from both non-directive and directive play therapy orientations, and how to work with parents effectively. They will go home with tons of creative play therapy strategies – some offered by the presenter, and some created in real time during this interactive training.
Training Objectives
Learn to describe at least three psychological theories of how anger develops in children.
Identify skills of non-directive play therapy for utilizing with angry clients in therapy.
Create directive play therapy exercises for utilizing with angry clients in therapy.
Determine a client’s progress in treatment using a play therapy lens.
