Too Exhaused to Exercise?
BY JESS TARLETON
If every "solution" you've tried to lose weight involves getting up earlier or staying up later to work out when you're already exhausted, shedding pounds can seem impossible. Yet you do not have to give up sleep or push to fit more into your day to lose weight. In fact, the first step to success for many of our clients is to rest and do less
Think about your favorite teacher...
BY JESS TARLETON
You know. The one you connected with - that got you. That made you want to do better, do more, and push harder. Imagine him or her now. Try to remember what exactly made that person so special and memorable for you... It's amazing how little we often remember from the millions of minutes we've experienced in life, and yet certain people, places, and experiences stick with us because of the profound emotional impact they've made in our lives.
Cut Your Severe Covid-19 Risk
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
Want to cut your risk of severe Covid-19 infection (including hospitalization and death)? Then it's time to get real about getting your body to a healthy weight. While the virus has mutated and many recommendations about what to do to "stay safe" have shifted since the beginning of the pandemic, one connection has remained steadfast. Obesity and impaired metabolic health are strongly associated with increased levels of severe Covid-19. This connection is present independent of other factors and comorbidities.
It's Not Your Willpower
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
If you've tried the conventional "burn more calories than you eat" and haven't seen results, you already know that weight loss is much more complex than this simple formula indicates. However, knowing how to leverage your unique physiology to address elements like sleep quality, stress management, and detoxification is a complex puzzle that can be difficult to tackle alone.
Untie Your Hands
BY JESS TARLETON
Imagine this... I've just tied your hands with rope. Tightly. It's nylon, blue, and pretty uncomfortable. Obviously, you're not happy with the situation... so you start to work on finding a way to get the rope off. However, no one else around you seems to notice that you're tied up. And since they rely on you, even though you tell them that you need a minute to take care of something for yourself, they keep asking you to answer a question "real quick" because "it'll only take a second", and "no one else knows how to fix it"...
Sugar is Stalking You
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
Cookies. Candy. Pumpkin Pie. Sugar is easy to spot in these forms... and when you decide to cut back, eliminating them from your diet definitely makes an impact on blood sugar levels. However, when you say "No, thanks" to the dessert at the end of the holiday spread and still feel exhausted, irritable, and unable to lose weight, you'll probably start to wonder if giving up the treats was worth it at all.
Become Connected
BY JESS TARLETON
One of the things about running a successful business is that it affects all the relationships in your life, including friendships. While you might have business “friends”, it’s a very real possibility that this group of people is simply supportive (and laughing at your jokes) because it’s a smart business move for them. They’re not the kind of people you can really open up to about your fears, dreams, and weaknesses.
Why a Coach Matters
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
In business, education, and healthcare, working as a "coach" sounded like a made-up position 15 years ago. Today, if you're not working with a coach in your field, you are falling behind those who are utilizing this common practice to fast-track their progress and success.
Lose the Guilt
BY JESS TARLETON
Chances are that you are where you are now with your weight and health because, up until now, you have been prioritizing others' needs above your own for years. When you are constantly busy and overwhelmed, you don’t have much time to really think about how tired, out of shape, overweight, and unhappy you are.
Knowledge, Not Products
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
Whatever the hype, product-based solutions for weight loss such as pills, shakes, and pre-packaged foods are not reliable long-term. Leadwell, like college and trade school, is about learning key knowledge from experts to transform your future performance.
The Comparison Trap
BY JESS TARLETON
Comparing yourself to others around you who are also feeling tired, overweight, sick, and defeated normalizes feeling this way and tricks you into thinking that the way you feel is just “the way it will be”. Just as you had models when you climbed the career ladder, you need to reorient yourself to the type of comparisons that will help you reach your health goals.
Fire Under Your Butt
BY BUDDY TOUCHINSKY
Think about the times that you have performed at your best. The times you’ve amazed even yourself and thought, “Damn! I did that!” Chances are these were all accomplishments you gained after fighting some type of deadline. When we have to push to meet a deadline, impress a client, or wow a boss, that “fire under your butt” allows you to push past procrastination, fear, anxiety, and fatigue.
Making the Most of Every. Single. Day.
BY JESS TARLETON | | |
It’s weird how changing your diet can impact things you would never think possible. Since I started my journey, I definitely feel like I am a better wife, a better mother, and a better friend. When I built a new relationship with food with the goal to lose weight, I started building an entirely different and better life for myself and my family.
