I was born in California and moved to Kentucky when I was five after my parents separated.
Growing up as an creative kid,, I immersed myself in art, cooking, music, dance, and socializing. I earned a bachelor's degree in business and an associate's degree in hotel and tourism management. My love for the restaurant industry inspired dreams of opening a hostel in a tropical paradise—a dream that still resonates with me today.
During my college years, I faced various addictions and battled eating disorders and a distorted self-image. I found myself in unhealthy relationships and engaged in self-sabotaging behavior due to a lack of self-love. It took years to recognize and begin addressing these challenges.
After college, I embarked on a cross-country journey and returned to California, eventually settling in San Diego, where I pursued studies in Ayurveda. It was during this time that I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Through my education at the San Diego College of Ayurveda and acupuncture, I learned to manage my PCOS naturally and freed myself from diabetic medication.
Living in California transformed my lifestyle, surrounding me with health-conscious and fit individuals. While I learned to care for my body through exercise and nutrition, I realized I needed to address my inner emotional and psychological well-being. I struggled with severe anxiety and panic attacks, and my nervous system remained unbalanced for years. Psychedelic journeys and therapy became pivotal in my healing journey.
Despite making strides in my physical health, I continued to grapple with anxiety and constant worry. In 2020, I found my dream job at a Women's Recovery Center, where I taught cooking classes, yoga, organic gardening, performed abhyanga oil treatments, and conducted health consultations. Additionally, I am a chef and have been leading culinary experiences at retreats for the past 10 years. This role inspired me to confront my own addictions and commit to recovery. I have been sober from speed and alcohol since August 28th, 2020, and working the 12 steps has been profoundly transformative.
My recovery journey has deepened my capacity to facilitate healing for others. I believe that with compassion and love, anything is possible.. My approach integrates Ayurveda, herbalism, and working with the land. I am convinced that these modalities can significantly enhance health and well-being. After leaving the treatment center, I am now running an apothecary in Leucadia, CA called Heal Botanics, teaching courses, and cooking occasional retreats.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with you and look forward to serving you.
With love,
Jenny
