The TOP 5 Things

To Help You Be More Productive In 2021

There's a lot of talk about productivity and how to "hack" it, making every dime work like a dollar.

I think we all have a little "I want it now with less effort" in us, and hacking how productive we are seems to be a starting place for most sales reps, regardless of their industry.

In this post, I want to share the top 10 things and strategies I have used in my business and life that have allowed me to become over 30% more productive in accomplishing tasks.

First, let's define what productivity means to us personally.

Productivity means getting things done and feeling good about it in shorter periods while impacting both present and future goals.

1) Focus on your BIG 5 Moves - In our day-to-day, we can find a million things that actually take away from our productivity. When we focus our daily efforts on our big five moves, we know that each move represents forward movement.

2) Have a schedule - There's a saying about writing things down. This applies to your plan, as well. Create your plan and follow it...

3) Set your intention - As we transition from one task to another, we lose momentum and sometimes our purpose about why we are looking to complete this move. By identifying our intention before starting any new job or project, we reset our desire to achieve the end goal.

4) Remove ALL Distractions - With every distraction comes a minimum of Five minutes lost. If we were to add up all the distractions we have in a day, the lost productivity would shock you. Eliminate ALL outside distractions by doing simple things like using an out of office, closed-door protocol, or even using do not disturb functions on your computers and phones.

5) Never put something off that you can do today - This is more common than most think. If you put things off until tomorrow, you are wasting time today to become more productive. When we do this, we miss an excellent opportunity to give ourselves a sense of great accomplishment at the end of each day.

Those are the top FIVE productivity moves that have worked the best for me in the last 12-months.

Let's break these actions down a bit for you to see how powerful they can become when we stack these five suggestions on each other.

1) What are the TOP 5 MOVES that you need to do TODAY to make tomorrow better? If you were to break your entire business down to ONLY 5 things that would give you a sense of accomplishment DAILY, what would they be?

2) Take each of those moves and schedule them into your daily routine. If it's - Make sales calls - Then where do you schedule that into your DAILY routine?

3) When your sales calls are scheduled, and you're focused on completing the tasks, how do you cold call with intention?

4) When you're calling, put your phone on Do Not Disturb and set an out of office reminder for emails. If you have a team, make sure to have a conversation explaining WHY this process is SO important.

5) Get it done TODAY. When we move things that can be done today to tomorrow, we lose a day's achievement and motivation. When we move too many things, we lose entire months. When we lose a month, your year is right behind!

In today's market, it's more important than ever to make sure we stay consistent in moving our business forward and in order to do that, we need to increase our productivity.

In order to increase our productivity for the long-term, we MUST put it into our daily plan so it becomes routine and second nature.

In the end, it's important for us to remember that our forward momentum ALWAYS creates more energy and desire to complete a goal or achieve our ambitions.

When we start to procrastinate or push things off... PLEASE stop and take a hard look at WHY you're procrastinating or pushing this task off.

Usually, we find the hard truth when we ask the right questions.
