Business Tip of the Week
22 July 2022
The most important part of laughter business, freelancing and laughterpreneuring is to have a positive impact on your audience while getting paid to do your work. Money is the side effect of having a positive impact on people. You have skills and expertise that sit at the same level as corporate consultants, I/O psychologists, alternative health care practitioners, health psychologists and community developers. Your fees sit at that high level of expertise.
So what do you need to monetize your expertise? You need to have a visual and measurable impact on your audience. That is all you need to start laughterpreneuring. And no, you're not a laughterpreneur and you're not a laughter business when you do free or low-fee sessions! When you first start out:
-You do not need a website - a social media page is enough.
-You do not need a business card - instead, ask for their business card. Here's why: When you have the business card of a potential paying client in your hand, you know how to contact them. When you give away your own business cards, the people taking them will probably toss it in the trash, you will have no idea who has your card or when they might call on you, and you've lost a potential client.
-You do not need a business name or a logo. You are the consultant and your name is sufficient - potential buyers will do background checks on you as a person. If all they see is a professional social media page that contains all the necessary elements for getting hired, then your name is enough. Business names, business logos and taglines have zero impact on the people you serve and they don't make money. Nobody will ever say to a laughter professional ''Oh! this logo! I will hire you!''
-You do not need a business plan. Business plans are for potential business investors and business bank loan applications. Business plans have zero impact on the people you serve and they don't make money. The people who will hire you don't care if you have a business plan. What paying clients care about is: Is this the best person to hire to solve the problems we are having? Is this the best person to help build our team? Is this the best person for creating an unforgettable keynote speech?
