Who are you BEING?
When we ask ourselves the question ‘what do I want?’ It will come down to two main categories – inner stuff, and outer stuff.
What most, if not all of us, want on the inside is happiness, peace, contentment, and a feeling of comfort in our own skin.
What we’re talking about here is our wellbeing, but it’s more than that too. It’s the levels of clarity we have access to, as well as how in touch we are with our innate knowing/genius, and our inner wisdom with how to navigate life.
Then we have the outer stuff – our performance in life and the results we create in our work, wealth, relationships with others, and our health. Again, there’s some things we all want, but there’s a lot that can differ too.
My work in psychology and transformative coaching is entirely focused on helping people develop their mindset to have more of what they want on the inside, and on the outside.
So, if for example, you want more inner peace, and you want to earn more money, that’s where I come in.
The way I work with this, is to firstly help you establish what it is you really want.
And then I help you remove the obstacles to getting it. We look at who you’d need to be to create those things in your life.
I used to want to feel confident, and so I would try various tools and techniques to try and help me be more confident. None of them worked.
It wasn’t until I had an identity shift that I was then actually a confident person.
What’s an identity shift?
Let me tell you…
I was working with someone who experienced a fair amount of anxiety. They had tried CBT and various tools and nothing really worked for them. When they came to me, they quickly saw that the reason nothing had worked was because of the place they were coming from.
They were coming from a place of “I am weak, and the world and people are hurtful”.
Basically, they were doing all the things they were doing (including trying to overcome this) because they believed they were vulnerable.
So all their behaviours were reinforcing this false limiting belief that they needed to protect themselves from hurtful people, and a scary world.
In other words, who they were BEING, was a person that was weak and viewing other’s as hurtful.
When you're coming from this place, none of the tools or techniques in the world will work.
Until you shift this identity and this way of being, you’re always going to get more of the same.
And when you do shift the place you're coming from, things look very different to you. So you no longer need to employ any tools, techniques, or coping behaviours to deal with it.
So, how do you shift identity?
You have to see through the lies that you’ve been telling yourself.
You have to see that you created your identity. ONLY YOU. And so you can transform it.
You can completly transform the way you see yourself, people, and life.
