Let's grow together.
Whether you're developing...
or reigniting your relationship with God, I've found there to be three key things you MUST do if you're going to enjoy an authentic, deep and grounded relationship with God, where you trust Him implicitly with your life.
STEP 1
Start with creating a healthy and consistent prayer life. I found this free online course very useful in this area. The key components of a healthy prayer life involve you :
- building up to spend at least 60 minutes praying in the early hours of the morning, and a shorter time at intervals during the day and before bed
- being specific in thanking and praising God for the things He has done for you
- being specific in telling Him your worries and fully surrendering them to Him by asking Him to deal with them the way He sees fit (dont' tell him how or when to deal with them)
- have a list of people you are praying for and bringing their specific issues to God
- read scriptures and have moments of silence to listen to how god speaks back to you.
STEP 2
Through prayer, you will learn how God predominantly speaks to you. For example, through dreams, visions while you're awake, scriptures or sermons.
As you study His Word, His character will be revealed and your questions answered. A good place to start is Galatians chapter 5, verse 22 and 23; Exodus chapter 20, verse 1 to 17. Here are a few other places that reveal God's character :
* Genesis chapter 1 (He created all things and made you to be in relationship with Him)
* Jeremiah chapter 29, verse 11 to 14 (God wants good for us and encourages you to turn to Him so He can bless you)
* Matthew chapter 26, verse 39 (God's son, Jesus, was willing to endure a gruesome death for you)
* Revelation chapter 21, verse 6 and 7 (God intends on spending eternity with you, if you're willing).
STEP 3
A sure way to get derailed from your christian walk is to be unclear about God's plan for your life. When you don't have a purpose for your existence and you don't have anything on which to focus, you'll become complacent, luke warm and your spiritual growth will become stagnant.
There's a very simple way to discover God's plan for your life. But once you discover it, you'll then be accountable to Him to act on your findings.
