What is the General Disclaimer?

This is a document that's posted on the bottom of your website, which clearly outlines your scope of practice, what qualifications you have, what you're doing, what you do not do. People need to understand that your content is for informational and educational purposes only, and that by virtue of people reading the information, no client coach relationship is established. Also you need to very, very clearly delineate what sort of scope of services you are sharing.

Who is the General Disclaimer for?

This document is for any health professional who is going to be putting information or any part of their story on their website. Additionally, if you have another designation (like you're a registered nurse) but on your website you're operating as a health coach, you need to distinguish that clearly through the use of your Disclaimer.  

What happens if you don't have it?

In the event that you do not have it, you run the very real risk of getting sued, having misrepresented yourself and the information that you share. Someone could allege by virtue of you posting information that they felt that the client coach relationship was established. Ultimately, you run the risk of being responsible for the information you share and if someone suffers damages, you'd be liable.

How do I use it?

You use it simply by including the disclaimer as a link at the bottom of the website.
