For 18+ years of my life I was a stressed out, over-anxious, limited thinker who always doubted herself. 

 

On the outside I looked well put together... getting straight A's, playing on high-level sports teams, and being friends with the "cool kids", but on the inside I NEVER felt like I was good enough. 

 

My crippling anxiety made me scared to go out and meet new people, I imagined hurting myself to get out of important games, I had no energy for everyday life because of the levels of my stress and I felt sick to my stomach basically ALL the time. 

 

I remember hearing about meditation, mindfulness and reprogramming the subconscious mind... and although I was always fascinated and intrigued by Eastern teachings, to my 14-year-old mind they also seemed like a bit of bull****!

 

 

Meditation sounded too simple, yet it was too hard to do.

(I gave up after a couple of tries because my mind was too busy.)

 

Mindfulness seemed like a token word people were just throwing around loosely. 

("Stop telling me to be mindful! What does that even mean??")

 

 

The Subconscious seemed like something I'd never be able to control so there was no point in even trying.
(I mean, there's a reason it's not called the conscious mind, right?!)

 

Instead of keeping an open mind and giving it a solid try, I continued to struggle.

And this went on for YEARS!

 

I continued to let stress and anxiety rule my daily life.

 

I continued to doubt myself and believe that everyone was judging or criticizing me. 

 

I continued to feel crazy insecure and HATED the person I saw in the mirror.

 

And I continued to be a slave to my mind and all the negative thoughts it threw at me day in and day out.
