Will a narcissist miss you?
21 March 2023
When a relationship ends, it's natural to wonder whether the other person will miss you. This is especially true if the other person is a narcissist. Narcissists are known for their self-centeredness and lack of empathy, which can make it difficult to gauge their true feelings. So, will a narcissist miss you? The answer is complicated.
Firstly, it's important to understand that narcissists view people as objects to be used for their own benefit. In their eyes, you are only valuable if you serve a purpose for them. Once you no longer serve that purpose, they may discard you without a second thought. This means that if you were in a relationship with a narcissist, there's a good chance that they won't miss you at all.
In their eyes, you are only valuable if you serve a purpose for them.
However, there are some circumstances under which a narcissist might miss you. For example, if you were a source of narcissistic supply - that is, someone who provided them with attention, admiration, and validation - they may miss the positive feelings they got from being around you. They may also miss the sense of control they had over you and the power they felt in manipulating you.
Another reason a narcissist might miss you is if they're in need of something from you. For example, if they've lost other sources of supply and are feeling desperate, they may try to reconnect with you. This is known as hoovering - a tactic used by narcissists to suck their former victims back into their orbit. If you do respond to their hoovering attempts, they may act as if they've missed you and can't live without you - but in reality, they're just using you again.
It's also worth noting that not all narcissists are the same. Some may have more capacity for empathy and genuine connection than others. If your relationship with a narcissist was more complex and nuanced, they may actually miss you on a deeper level. However, this is rare and shouldn't be expected.
In summary, whether or not a narcissist will miss you depends on a variety of factors, including the nature of your relationship, their level of narcissism, and their current needs and desires. It's important to remember that even if a narcissist does express a desire to reconnect with you, it's unlikely to be based on genuine love or affection. Instead, it's likely to be a ploy to get something they want from you. If you've recently ended a relationship with a narcissist, it's best to focus on your own healing and well-being, rather than worrying about whether they miss you.
