This audit tool is a set of clickable, fillable checklists designed to help therapists, helping professionals and course creators assess the diversity, accessibility, and inclusion of their offers. It helps identify areas where improvements can be made to ensure that their products and services are inclusive and accessible to a diverse audience.
By using this audit tool, you can evaluate your offers and identify any potential gaps in diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. It provides a structured framework to ensure that your products and services align with your commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all individuals. It guides you in addressing barriers, improving representation, and fostering a more inclusive experience for your audience.
The checklist is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive. Simply access the digital version and navigate through the sections and prompts. You can click on the checkboxes or fill in the relevant information based on your assessment. The checklist prompts you with key considerations and questions to guide your evaluation process. There is also a PDF versio if you prefer to print it out.
The checklist covers a wide range of areas related to diversity, accessibility, and inclusion in your offers. Topics include representation, cultural sensitivity, language inclusivity, accessibility features, addressing systemic barriers, and more. Each section provides specific criteria and indicators to help you evaluate and improve your offers.
Absolutely! The checklist is designed to be flexible and adaptable. Once you make a copy of the document, you can modify and customize it based on your industry, target audience, and specific requirements. Tailor the prompts and questions to align with your business goals and values and relect your unique approach to diversity and inclusion.
I recommend using the checklist periodically to ensure that your offers remain inclusive and accessible over time. As your business evolves and new products or services are introduced, it's important to revisit the checklist to assess and address any potential areas for improvement.
Yes! Kind of. 😉I encourage you to share this checklist with your team or colleagues within your organization. Collaboration and shared responsibility are key to creating a more inclusive and accessible business environment. I do, however, ask that you don't share this outside of your organization. Digital products and offers like this are how I make my income, so instead, please send them my way so they can purchase their own copy.
Identifying areas for improvement is an important step! Use the audit tool as a starting point to develop strategies and initiatives that address the identified gaps. Seek resources, training, or expert guidance to support your efforts in creating more inclusive and accessible offers.
Navigating diversity, accessibility, and inclusion can be a complex process. I recommend exploring reputable resources and organizations that specialize in these areas. The Association of American Medical Colleges has a diversity and inclusion toolkit, found here: https://www.aamc.org/professional-development/affinity-groups/cfas/diversity-inclusion-toolkit/resources.
Hi! I'm Michelle Risser.
Throughout my 20-year career as a social worker, I've had the privilege of working with diverse communities. My journey began in the field of HIV/AIDS, where I provided vital support to LGBTQIA+ clients. This experience taught me the importance of creating inclusive spaces where individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities feel seen, heard, and supported.
In my perinatal mental health practice, I've had the opportunity to work with clients from a wide range of racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds. This diversity has taught me the significance of cultural sensitivity, recognizing the unique challenges individuals face, and tailoring my approach to meet their specific needs. It's a constant reminder that inclusivity is not just about acknowledging differences, but also celebrating and embracing them.
I strive to create an environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel safe, understood, and respected.
Like all of us, I continue to expand my knowledge and refine my practices to better serve the diverse populations I work with. I believe that diversity is not just a checkbox to mark, but a lens through which we can cultivate compassion, understanding, and equity.
I always have more to learn. However, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive space for clients, students, and colleagues alike, where diversity is celebrated, and everyone's experiences are valued.
Join me in creating meaningful change by integrating diversity and inclusion into our offers.
I’m super impressed with this resource Michelle created. It has great questions to consider and resources to use to make sure your offerings are as inclusive and accessible as possible.
