Following a contemplative look at scripture and the Parable of the Good Samaritan in February, we welcome the presence of Mirabai Starr and a deep feminine dive into mercy and forgiveness. Our core practice will be the forgiveness prayer. In her recent book, Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics, Mirabai returns to lessons from her translation of Julian of Norwich’s Showings. She reminds us that Norwich doesn’t suggest that “everything’s going to be okay.”  “She squarely faces the inevitability  that we will miss the mark and that there is wickedness in this world.  Even so, she is convinced that the nature of the Divine is loving-kindness, and she wants us to absorb this into every fiber of our being.” – Mirabai Starr

Mirabai embodies this quote in her writings and her speaking. In a talk drawn from Wild Mercy, she will weave an experience of feminine wisdom, personal and communal reconciliation, and challenge us to deepen our capacity to truly forgive ourselves and others.

Mirabai Starr is an award-winning author of creative non-fiction and contemporary translations of sacred literature. She taught Philosophy and World Religions at the University of New Mexico-Taos for 20 years and now teaches and speaks internationally on contemplative practice and inter-spiritual dialog.

A certified bereavement counselor, Mirabai helps mourners harness the transformational power of loss. Her latest book, WILD MERCY: Living the Fierce & Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics, was named one of the “Best Books of 2019” by Spirituality & Practice.
