12-Week Intro to Farm + Horse Lesson Program

Throughout these 12 lessons, your child will learn horse and farm skills, including horse basics,  safety, basic anatomy, grooming, tack, and daily care. Children will help with some barn chores so they get the full farm experience! They will then learn how to ride the horse and practice mounting, proper posture, rein holding, and commands. They will also know how to lead, walk, stop, and steer their horse while riding. By the end, your child will have a solid foundation in horse 101, horse care and basic horseback riding.

What To Expect:

• Each session is a private lesson with the instructor. This is so your instructor can focus solely on the safety and experience of the child. We do not offer group lessons at this time.
• This is a 12 week program with one session per week. 
• Sessions last 30 minutes but may go over a little if the child needs more time.
• Your rider will need to wear full length jeans or pants. Please dress your child for the weather since we will be out in the elements. 
• All lessons are weather pending and may scheduled week-to-week in the spring. Once temperatures warm up we will set a time each week.
• Cancelled lessons will be made up the same week. We will reschedule if rain is in the forecast.

What Your Child Will Need:

• We provide riding helmets and vests but for younger toddlers or those with very small heads, we advise you to bring your own helmet from home. A bicycle helmet is fine.
• You will need to dress your rider in boots, preferably ones with a small heel and hard smooth sole. 
• If it is early spring or has rained recently we recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes and a plastic bag since it is muddy. Unfortunately this is the ‘fun’ part of farming. :)
• Your rider will need to wear full length jeans or pants. Please no shorts.
• Please dress your child for the weather since we will be out in the elements. 
• Please make sure your child has gone to the bathroom before their lesson so we can utilize the short time we have.
