National Apprenticeship Week Recap!
November 30, 2022
The week of November 14th was a busy one for our training centers throughout the council. Each training center held open house events throughout the week with great success! Attendees included contractors, both signatories and not, school groups, and individuals interested in our apprentice programs. In Arlington, NBC reporter Ken Kalthoff came out to interview EST Engels and current apprentices about our program. That story can be viewed by clicking the image above.
Below are highlights across the council from the week.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
A total of 386 students from 9 schools across East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. Landry, and East Feliciana parishes attended to learn about a career in carpentry.
Special guests included Louisiana Workforce Commission Secretary Ava Cates, Louisiana Workforce Commission Director Steven Peychaud, State Representative Vanessa LaFleur, & City Councilmember Daryl Hurst.
Contractors Boh Bros, Day & Zimmermann, & Maxim Crane, were also there to discuss opportunities.
Arlington, TX
The open house in Arlington was hoppin' also. You could see and speak with almost every state and city leader in the area if you hung out there all day. In addition, visitors were able to watch actual apprentice classes while touring the facility.
School councillors and decision makers toured the facility and discussed school field trip plans.
Some major contractors, such as, Performance Contracting Inc. were in attendance to talk about upcoming projects and Armstrong Building products gave our apprentices a demonstration of their latest products.
