"The extreme brevity of real combat requires the ability to function free from linear thinking. The subconscious must be fully on the line. Dynamic and non-dynamic training should be practiced, without limits to variables. Armed, unarmed, all circumstances."
"THE PURPOSEFUL GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT OF GUIDED CHAOS TRAINING ALLOWS FOR INTERNALIZING THOUGHTS AND ABILITIES. IT IS AUTOMATIC. LIKE BOILING A FROG BY SLOWLY SIMMERING TO THE POINT OF DONE. PROPER MIND SETTING AND MEDITATIVE MOVEMENT GROWS INTO ONE FORGED AND MALEABLE PIECE OF STEEL."
"The mind is the trap...Belief is empty without experience...To actually BE the cut in the air is a small step in the right direction...But...There is no true direction as visualized by the mind... Being means disappearing into your true eternal self...Meditation practice is a key..."

"Training for the first 2 seconds of a life and death fight...
Put [down] the idea of knowing in any way how a sudden blood fight will go down...
Patterned cooperative movements will keep your mind in a place of inaccurate response to most real attacks.
You can train for Adaptability.
Development of your innate abilities is necessary...
In Guided Chaos there are a number of exercises developed over decades and street-proven to work...
Give yourself a short test right now...
Stand on one foot...Keep your balance for 5 seconds...Next keep on that one foot and close your eyes...See how long you can do this.
The ability to deliver powerful blows while on one foot is one essential task for high level defense or offense in an actual unbridled violent encounter...
"The Guided Chaos exercises are developed as a method of allowing a practitioner to go within simply by doing them with full intention and relaxation…They come from the void or from my imagination based on real experience… Beware of sloppy demonstrations… Focus on the movement and feeling -- every subtlety is paramount…At first it seems contradictory. That is the nature of GC."

"The importance of being Unavailable...
One very crucial point I have to make here is how to demonstrate being Unavailable...
One way is to develop a soft body that can absorb strikes and pushes...Most students are not endowed with large bodies...To train thinner and smaller students, it is imperative to put yourself in their bodies in your
mind. I am a fat guy but I teach students to move according to the information they receive from using their hands and other body parts like antennas. .Here, you move the body out of harm's way before you can be hit or moved...Vision is used at the same time, which builds up your pre-cortical response in conjunction with the kinesthetics of your actions...If you are mostly dependent on body thickness you are short-changing yourself and your students...A GC practitioner must develop the ability to evade blows and controls without undue contact...Of course evasion along with keeping very close to your partner and not just bulling them is the goal...
There is always someone bigger, faster or stronger...The ultimate goal is to be a ghost that can't be touched but can drop strike or throw at will.

"Just a thought:
Men... If you had to switch bodies with a woman, how would you train to fight?
Same question for the Women."

"Method strength speed are not the way
Drink from your center to prevail
But first fill it with wisdom and light"

"As you become intensely aware of the moment in a fight ...You will automatically deal only with that moment...All that leads up to it as well as the end result...Total immersion within the now without thought allows for this..."

"Feeling from the feet is step one …It allows for more in-depth development...Step one is a simplified method to focus the mind on one spot…All of these exercises eventually go back to the mind thinking and codifying movement…Centering and mushin come in waves of discovery…See how long students can actually concentrate on their feet effectively…Specific meditative practice is a constant endeavor...All great…Personal growth is the journey..."

"When practicing contact flow it is essential to keep control of your breath by breathing into your belly...For practice for speed it is good to hyper breathe for 5 seconds before practicing combat flow at highest but safe speed...Do the combat flow in spurts...10 seconds then rest and when your breathing is normalized either go back to contact flow slow belly breathing then hyper breathe like if you are going to deep dive and do the 19 seconds again either with a skilled partner or a dummy...Do not do more than 5 repetitions...Good luck...John"

John on "breath infusion" or "condensing breath to turn Chi into Jing and store it in your bone marrow":
"It never seemed to work for me...But maybe I didn't do it long enough...Also what is it supposed to do?...Good for health?...Haven't seen it work much for fighting if at all...But anything can happen...I guess....So if you wish to practice deep Chi Gung exercises and maybe just add my little suggestions to it you can cover all bases...JP"

"Upon reflection of my original description of what Guided Chaos is (The study of universal movement with an understanding of martial application), I found that a description of what happens inside my "blankness" may be helpful for you to understand where the resultant expression to the instantaneous question of when, where, and how to move with an antagonist or antagonists exists....See below for answer, John Perkins
FOR MIND FIGHTING IN THE REAL OR IMAGINATION...
WHEN I move in the seemingly mindless state, I feel a coalescence of impressions which reveals the key movement needed to finish an instantaneous picture which seems to already exist...John Perkins"

"Question: Is it correct to say, "If you master the principles, you master this art?
Understanding the below answer is important....JP
"Right on Zen....Keep it simple because the mind will only complicate it...JP"

"What is the meaning of Truly Free Fighting?
It means having a mind that can see from all points and then focus.
It means a body that can change direction and outcome from the merest touch or cue.
Balance born of independence.
Clarity of vision to see what is there.
No boundaries within the vortex.
Nothing to cause resistance to change.
The senses combined to allow true choice of action.
Freedom won through knowing this truth....JP"
