What’s L.O.V.E. Got To Do With It?

(L.O.V.E. stands for Listening, Open-Mindedness, Validation, and Empathy)

Let's take a closer look:

Listening

Truly hearing what someone has to say is a critical skill. The interesting part is everyone thinks they are a “good listener” (somewhat like driving – we’re all above average drivers, right?) Of course, we all know most people aren’t good listeners. But the tools to be a truly good listener are easy to develop and use, and we show your people how. It makes a huge difference.

Open-Mindedness

The best ideas are rarely apparent right away (the story of record executives passing on the Beatles is legendary.) But having a truly open mind is a key strength for decision-makers and can reap rewards across your entire company. Teaching one to be open-minded is one of the most valuable tools you can give them. We developed a methodology that not only teaches it, but permanently instills it.

Validation

A key component in employee turnover is the feeling that one is not validated. Not feeling validated alienates and frustrates people, and not allowing for validation can feed into stereotypes and cross-department issues that doom cohesiveness from the start (“oh, so-and-so is in charge of that project… watch yourself”). We’ll explore what validation is, what causes validation issues, and how people can embrace this critical communication component.

Empathy

True empathy is elusive (you only need look at our national issues.) But it’s a critical component in communicating effectively. Understanding the “why” behind someone’s actions is key. This is not to say empathy is always agreeing, mind you, but once you “get” why the other person feels the way they feel, all kinds of communication possibilities emerge. We laser target teaching empathy, giving clear strategies and exercises that can be immediately deployed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Are Your Engagements?

Where / How Do You Work?

Our Company Went Through Radical Changes with COVID-19. Are You Current on That?

Is Ashley Involved?

What Happens at the End of the Engagement?

Can We Tape and Replay the Presentations and Workshops?

Why Do We Even Need This? We’re Pretty Diverse.

We wish it were as simple as hiring percentages. But it isn’t. It’s about people. One bad decision by one manager can severely damage a company, both financially and in the public eye. And in today’s media-fueled cancel culture, this can be devastating.

Policy and numbers do NOT prevent anything. It’s about changing people, which is why we focus on that more than anything. The best things we hear in our trainings are “I never realized that,” “I never thought about it that way before,” “Omg, that makes so much sense. How did I not see this earlier?”

We can and do help with your policy, of course, but in the end, we change PEOPLE, which changes your culture, your effectiveness, and, ultimately, your bottom line.
