Detailed Instructions

Please read through these instructions before starting.

When you click on the button to start the questionnaire, it will open in a separate browser window. This is so you can refer back to this page, if needed, while you complete the profile. After you start the questionnaire, you'll need to click the "NEXT" button on each page to move forward. If there is a "BACK" button, use it if necessary to go back and review or change any answer.

I'll go through each page in the questionnaire so you'll know what to expect.

P1) The home page identifies PFM Advisor and Charles Nash (me) as the delivering firm and you'll need to click the "Get Started" button.

P2) Enter your name and email address so we can add the results to your system profile. If you're already registered on our system, please use the same email to avoid duplicate accounts being created.

P3) This page contains six financial goals or priorities. You should select your top three and click each one. They will change color as you select them. If you select "Other", a box will appear for you to insert your answer.

P4) This page is for comments so you can feel free to include any items you think are important to the analysis. In most cases, it is left blank as it doesn't effect your personal Risk Number.

P5) Enter your birth year and target retirement age. If you don't have a specific target retirement age, use 65. If you're already retired, use your current age.

P6) Enter your portfolio value in round numbers. It is critical you include a reasonably accurate number (rounded) so the risk amount can be converted into dollars.

P7) This is where the real analysis begins. The question is how much risk can you handle in the next six months? Move the slider back and forth to determine where your comfort zone is on the balanced risk/reward scale by % and dollars. This is your starting point for further analysis. When you're happy with the starting amount, move on to the next page. If you simply can't decide on a starting point, set the slider in the middle and adjust it to +12% in the green and -12% in the red.

P8) Here you'll be presented with three portfolio choices. In the middle is your starting position based on your slider choice on the previous page. You can select either more reward with same risk or same reward with lower risk. This is to determine if your focus leans toward maximizing return or minimizing risk. Depending on which you select, you'll be given a second choice in the same direction -- less risk with less reward or more reward with more risk. Once you make this selection, you'll see it along side a final option. Select the one that best fits your current position. Click it and you'll be taken to the score page.

P9) Here you'll see your risk number and a slider chart showing gain versus loss based on your last selection from the previous page. If you're satisfied with the result and feel the number represents your risk viewpoint, click the "Yes, that feels like me" button. If not, you can press the back option and start page 8 over again until you are comfortable with your score. PLEASE NOTE: Once you click the "Yes, that feels like me" button, your profile is complete and the score has been sent to our system. Be sure to write down your Risk Number or print the page before you click the "Yes that feels like me" button.

P10) This is a "Thank You" page. You are not required to put in your phone number or click the "Call Me" button unless you specifically want me or my assistant to call. If you're not leaving a phone number, you can close the browser page. That's it, you're done! You now know your personal Risk Number!
