It’s no secret that there are a bajillion interior designers, talented and ready to help you trendify all the nooks of your house.
Yet you know deep down that a trendy house doesn’t truly make a home.
Likely, you crave a deeper significance with your home design.
You have the same house goals as I do, I’ll bet:
to create a stunning house that moves beyond “cute” and resonates deeply with your most significant priorities… loving your people safely, comfortably, beautifully.
I don’t know about you, but I didn’t always appreciate this deep significance.
There was a time I wanted to make pretty things. Period.
But the summer of 2013 changed everything for me.
My husband was dying from complications of Crohn’s disease, and I was 7 months pregnant with our first baby.
It was a scary and sacred time.
That summer was full of surgeries, a few swear words, miracles upon miracles, lots of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and slow-motion breaths to make the choices that would change the trajectory of my life.
In the moments when we were staring mortality in the face, together my husband and I realized that all we have is today.
We have right now, and tomorrow if we’re lucky, to love big.
It’s been quite a journey, one spanning a complete decade, but Chase, my husband, is now completely recovered from his Crohn’s. Zero symptoms.
My baby came healthy and happy, and now we have not just one, but three rambunctious, vibrant boys.
But we are fundamentally changed.
We no longer are entertained by the trivial.
We seek significance in how we spend our precious moments and life energy.
We’ve built our lives around our commitment to love big, right now, and in a way that is sustainable for the future.
As you can imagine, creating pretty homes for the sake of peacocking and performance became superficial for me very quickly.
However, I have come to believe that true and lasting beauty, for the cause of soul-enriching and heart-centering, is a lifeline of strength and purpose.
This beauty connects us together instead of inviting insecurity and confusion.
This beauty is an experience of creation, where the process is as breathtaking as the result.
This beauty is what the feeling of “home” is all about, life-giving and humanity-supporting.
Maybe you’re building new, maybe you’re buying a home that’s move-in ready, or perhaps you are seeking a mini-to-mega transformation for what you’ve already got going in your current house.
Whatever house stage you’re in, you don’t need someone to smear “pretty” or “trendy” all over it.
All you need is that safe, comfortable, truly beautiful space to honor what matters most: your relationships.
Simple.
Sacred.
I’m here for the same reason you are:
Significance.
And dark chocolate, if you’re asking.
With honor,
Carly
