The quality of your food affects the quality of your mood – Suzanne Ingleton
If I could give you one piece of advice that will totally change your world, it would be…
Only eat the best quality food!
If you wanted to put money into your health, then feed your body with the freshest and highest quality food you can afford. It will be the best health insurance that you will ever invest in.
Scientific studies on nutrition comparing the diets of industrial nations to those of traditional cultures show that the vast difference in higher quality points to a huge reduction in every major health condition.
According to a famous US Biochemist, Linus Pauling, 95% of all disease can be prevented by good nutrition.
So what does Quality mean?
Real, fresh, organic, lovingly homemade, locally produced, heirloom variety, nutrient dense, low in human-made toxins, grown and marketed with honesty and integrity, filled with real flavour, and that care and consciousness has played a part in the production process.
The importance of quality food is also paramount if your goal is to lose weight. When we eat poor quality food, it does not have enough nutrition to support the body’s needs, so therefore the body will seek to eat more food to make up for the lack.
The brain senses that there are deficiencies and, because the prime directive of the subconscious mind is to preserve and protect us, it will send a message to eat more food!
And when our conscious mind hears this message, it sends us to seek more food, and not necessarily the best quality food.
So what happens when we eat poor quality / highly processed / junk food?
In the short term, poor nutrition can contribute to stress, tiredness and our capacity to work, and over time, it can contribute to other health problems such as: being overweight or obese, tooth decay, high blood pressure & cholesterol, heart disease & stroke, type-2 diabetes, depression, anxiety & eating disorders.
There are many well documented studies showing that unhealthy eating patterns can cause mood swings, blood sugar fluctuations and nutritional imbalances. Without a steady source of nutrients from food, our mind and body do not function well.
Studies have shown that poor quality food affects gut bacteria, which in turn affects our immune system, metabolism, body weight, brain function and overall health. These are all factors that are highly relevant to depression and mood swings.
Simply put, our gut is the seat of our health, and if we put poor quality food in, we get a poor quality output in regards to brain function, immunity and total mindbody health.
All of this can lead to that nasty cycle of emotional and binge eating. As humans, we are designed to seek pleasure to avoid pain – so we eat for pleasure to avoid the pain of hunger. We are also programmed at birth to eat food to regulate our emotions. Sounds like a catch 22, right?
So when we are not feeling good – sad, frustrated, angry, bored, in need of a reward…..we will often seek food to make us feel better……but then we can feel bad, because we’ve just eaten something that we know is not going to help us achieve our health goal.
So as you can see…..a nasty cycle and habit is created - feel bad = eat food to feel better = feel bad = eat food to feel better…..and so it goes on.
Working with the psychology of eating is a relatively new way to work with depression and anxiety, and coupled with mindbody nutrition and neuroscience, we can now pick up the missing piece of the weight puzzle and address the root cause of unhelpful eating behaviours.
Our MindBodyWeight Reset Program is designed specially to address the root cause of eating challenges using state of the art Neuro-Linquistic Programming, Hypnotherapy and Eating Psychology, which transforms the relationship that women have with food and body so they can live their best life, free from food & body worries.
