I would like to share my positive experience and my observation. Firstly, throughout my placement, the Hospital at Home team (HAHT) staff were so helpful, supportive and friendly. I had a fantastic time and learnt so much along the way. I felt entirely part of the team, which was nice, and the teamwork is great.

During my visits to patients’ homes, I got the opportunity to learn how each patient is unique, and how the nurses were doing everything they could to put the patients’ needs first and always give time to listen to patients’ worries and wishes. I was amazed to see HAHT nurses' care and support towards patients whenever we visited patients at their home. Patients were made at ease such that they were able to be open to HAHT nurses due to the nurses’ friendly faces, kind mannerisms and willingness to help.

I also observed that patients were happier and were getting better when they were in their home or personal surroundings, they were happy that they were cared for in their home as they were able to sleep in their own bed, eat the food they like and have friends, family and pets around them whenever they wish. The relationship between nurse and patient was better and they were able to have a friendly chat. The service is having a positive impact on patients’ lives as they are receiving a high quality of care.

I am so grateful as I believe this placement has given me the great opportunity to make a difference in patients' lives and it has also helped me build my confidence.

HAHT has been a great place to be. It is because of the staff's care, compassion, understanding and dedication that has made this HAHT so great. Never have I met a team that is both so individually and collectively wonderful.
