THE MODERN HEALTH LETTER
HOW CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT
From mindless consumer to conscious creator
- -Reading time : 12 MINUTES
If you have been following me on social media, you know that I mostly consume food that comes from nature.
To do that, I take my bike to go to a farm that is about 25 minutes away from where I live.
My journey to the farm starts in the city where I live and takes me through the countryside.
It’s a ride I love to do not only because I deeply enjoy spending time in nature, but it allows me to observe and learn from the big or small changes that happen all around me.
I have been doing the same ride to the farm for almost a year now and I have to say, there aren’t many things that are as impressive as observing nature during spring.
Surrendering to nature
Nature rules everything.
There isn’t one thing that the laws of nature cannot influence.
- Day and night.
- Life and death.
- Creation and growth.
- The weather and the seasons.
- The elements (earth, water, fire, air and space).
Humans have been pretty good at challenging or testing nature’s limits, but in my opinion, it is a game we will never win.
I’ve learned that resisting nature means resisting myself because I am not apart or separate from nature.
I come from nature.
Therefore, the laws that apply to nature, apply to me too.
There is such a humble intrinsic intelligence to nature that becomes only accessible to us as we distance ourselves from the unnatural and disconnected lifestyle most of us have settled into.
Once you find that place, you will see that everything you can observe in nature, you will find within yourself.
And that the cycles, seasons and laws of nature can be harnessed into powerful leverages to completely transform your life.
What makes spring so fascinating is nature’s total dedication to creation and growth.
And everything in nature takes this law of creating, building, working and growing very seriously.
Within a week, I saw plants, leaves, and flowers double or triple in size.
Birds, other animals and insects build entire nests to welcome their soon-to-be-born offspring.
Bees frenetically fly from flower to flower to gather as much pollen as possible.
At this time of the year, the concentration of energy found in nature feels like an explosion of new colors, scents, sounds and innovation.
A sense of hurry, anticipation and excitement from the collective rebirth after the long winter phase becomes contagious to everything and everyone.
The inhabitants of nature know that they only have a short period before the next season arrives with its new and different qualities and laws.
On every journey I take to the farm, I can’t help but observe the gap between the intensity and dedication found in nature during this time and the passive and lethargic way of living our lives.
A lot of us have gotten very comfortable taking and consuming and completely denied the main purpose of this season, which is to grow and create.
This simultaneously results in life dissatisfaction on the personal level and creates lack in the equilibrium of nature’s collective balance.
When was the last time you created something?
- Music.
- Movement.
- A new idea.
- A painting.
- A new recipe.
- A new perspective or way to do something.
Are you someone who contributes to the expansion of nature and the collective consciousness or are you someone who just consumes, takes and benefits from everyone else’s creation?
The duty of creation
Humans have the unique ability to mold a thought or an idea into something physical.
- The plane you are sitting on to fly across the world was once only an idea in someone’s head.
- The fork you are using to put food into your mouth was once only an idea in someone’s head.
- The apartment or house you live in has once only been a thought in someone’s head.
- The screen you are reading this letter on has once only been a thought in someone’s head.
- The lines from this exact letter have once only been thoughts in my head.
Everything that exists around you starts with a simple idea or thought in someone’s head.
And now, it is benefitting and serving you by adding value to your life.
When you spend time observing nature, you come to realize that everything has a purpose.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t exist.
You too, have a purpose.
That is why you exist.
Your purpose is intrinsically tied to your ability to create.
By becoming a creator instead of an endless consumer, you are fully stepping into your purpose and your power as a human being on this planet.
Right now, the reason why you think you have nothing to create and no way to contribute to the collective consciousness is because you have spent your whole life being a consumer.
- A consumer lacks direction, goal and clarity.
- A consumer has little control over their time and focus.
- A consumer is disconnected from the cycles and qualities of nature.
- A consumer doesn’t recognize their power to create and bring about what they desire.
You are in the perfect season to start reconnecting with the creator inside of you.
Our goal for this spring season is to make getting to know ourselves deeply our main priority, so we can become someone who embraces change, knows how to control their time and focus and can fiercely step into the power and responsibility that comes with creating.
To create you need three main elements, and I will break down each one of them for you:
- Time
- Focus
- Creativity
Time.
You need to cut out some time to create, work and build something you are interested in. A project, a mission you want to bring to life, from the mental (your thought) to the physical (this reality).
It can be anything.
A performance goal (running 10k for example)
A language you learn to speak.
A new skill you want to master.
Anything.
You want to be precise and honest with the time you are dedicating to that project. Even if you can only give your project 1 hour a week consistently, you will move forward.
Once you set up the amount of time you will dedicate to your project, make that your main priority in your week.
This means saying no to anything else until you have honored the weekly task that will bring your project to life.
Focus.
Distractions are everywhere.
And they are endless.
If you don’t learn how to control and direct your focus purposefully, your life will go by in the blink of an eye whilst you remain the same.
It’s way easier to spend 3 hours a day scrolling on Instagram or watching a Netflix series than working on your project.
A direct example that underlines why most people choose to be endless consumers rather than conscious creators.
It doesn’t require any effort to take.
But it requires the ultimate level of awareness and dedication to give.
Your time will go towards where you focus your attention.
If your focus goes towards social media, you are giving your time away to social media.
But social media is not giving you anything back. It’s like constantly giving your time to a job but never getting paid.
If you pour your time and focus into your project, your project will pour that energy back into you by making you grow and evolve.
Creativity.
Everyone is inherently original and creative.
But few people know how to access their creativity because it is a part of us that has quickly been repressed and put away through the process of collective conditioning.
Creativity is not something you force. It’s the natural expression of your essence once you undo the mental barriers of limitation that have been programmed into your mind since you were a child.
Can you remember all the crazy games and stories you invented when you were little?
It didn’t take any effort because your mind was completely open, and the creative energy was just flowing through you.
You were in a constant state of observation and able to interpret the world in unique ways based on your interests, knowledge and experiences.
Your creativity was a reflection of your authentic self.
The most authentic version of yourself holds the key to infinite levels of creativity.
This is why we are making getting to know ourselves our main priority this spring.
The moment you start to choose yourself over the needs, wants and expectations of the rest of the world,
And you choose your personal project over the endless distractions and time-wasting temptations from the outside world,
Is the moment you recognize the creator that has always resided inside of you.
A creator who knows how to make anything happen.
I will see you in next week's letter,
Until then, take care
Oli
