How does individual release work?
An individual release simply means that each butterfly arrives in their own individual envelope. This is convenient when you desire them to be passed out to others for a group or synchronized release.
Individual release is the most common choice, especially for events with a gathering of people such as weddings, funerals or other gatherings or celebrations.
Butterfly arrival instruction?
Upon butterflies arrival you'll want to confirm that they arrived safely.
Start by opening the box and reading the instructions. Take a few butterfly envelopes out (about 2 to 6 envelopes depending on how many in your shipment) and listen to the envelope for movement.
They are transported on dry ice to keep them cool and calm during transit, so don't be alarmed if you do not hear any movement. If you hear no movement, gently open the envelope slightly, you will see their wings start to move indicating they are fine. Returning them back on the dry ice until one hour before release. (Consider putting a fresh ice pack in the box)
Release instructions?
At least one hour before the release, remove the butterflies from the insulated box, off of any ice packs.
This will ensure they will be warmed up and ready to fly when opened.
Do Not place the butterflies in the sun or next to a heating unit. You do not want your butterflies to get too hot. Let the butterflies warm up naturally.
When passing them to others, information guests that there are live butterflies inside and they should hold gently.
Additional Shipping Details?
We do not advise they be shipped to arrive the day of the event, in case they are late or lost in shipping. Sunday events, are recommended to arrive on Friday because if the butterflies are lost for a Saturday delivery, you will not receive them until Monday.
Some locations do not have a Saturday delivery.
Tuesday events will receive the butterflies on the event date. FedEx does not currently ship on Sunday's. As a result, our code of ethics do not allow for living butterflies to sit in hot warehouse over the weekend. We will ship your butterflies on Monday, arriving to you on Tuesday by 10:30am in most areas.
Traditional Shipping Season?
Butterflies need warmer weather for optimum flight and activity. Because of this the traditional release season are mid April thru mid October for most parts of the US. Limited extensions may be available depending on availability and weather.
