My Story

I am Kim Damon, worthy mom and certified life coach for moms of adults.

I worked for many years in a successful career managing people in the corporate world. I was consistently rated in the top 5 of managers and I attribute that to my ability to connect with my teams, helping them grow in their careers and find that work-life balance.

After my children left home for the military and college, I remarried a wonderful man that I had dated for eight years, and I moved. During this time, my kids experienced independence, love, breakups, money issues, and the disappearing act, while I just struggled. I experienced a range of emotions when it came to my kids, from being proud of their service, to worry, then to frustration, which led to months without contact. I was completely heartbroken and, like so many moms, I felt alone, rejected, and unworthy. I was sure that I had done something to cause them to pull away and because of this, I had anger towards them and a lot of self-judgment.

I made every attempt to avoid feeling terrible by working, eating, binging on TV, shopping, and drinking wine. It would bring me temporary relief from my pain, but not for long. It compounded my pain by gaining weight and contributed to me lashing out to find blame for feeling so broken. I compared my situation with all the happy families around me and just knew that my family was completely broken.

Maybe it was destiny or as I like to put it, a God wink, that I would sign up with a life coach to lose weight and quickly discovered the answers to why I was so heartbroken and felt so rejected by my kids. That one God wink saved my soul.

I felt newfound energy to have joy and happiness back in my life. I set out to do as much research on the subject and that led me to the decision to go back to school and become a life coach. My avoidance began to shift into a need to design a blueprint of what I wanted my life to look like.

The commitment to transformation in my life was similar to physical exercise. I put the time in, I was dedicated to feeling better, then one day, I found a lump on my calf. I'm scared, I don't recognize the lump, my brain begins to worry that I might be dying, then I check the other calf and find one there too. Am I finally getting some muscle?

My happiness snuck up on me the same way. Like so many others that have changed their lives for the better, I just began where I was at, at that moment. I began to recognize that most of my suffering came from what I was thinking about my circumstances and that I was taking on all the responsibility for everyone else and not myself.

Like finding that lump and realizing I was developing muscles, I realized I was gaining self-confidence and control over my own life again. My marriage improved, my relationship with my stepchildren improved and I connected with both of my children, developing a new bond. I even became a better grandmother by showing up like me and being fully engaged, instead of walking on eggshells.

Most important is the transformation I experienced within myself. Letting my family be responsible for themselves while I remain responsible and focused on my own life is empowering. It's like a huge weight has been lifted from my life. I no longer feel rejected and heartbroken because I know that when others misbehave, say harsh words, or make mistakes, it has nothing to do with me or being 100% worthy of their love.

I became excited about the possibility of sharing this with other women experiencing the same pain. It became my passion to build that community where no one felt completely alone. I left the corporate world and shifted my energy and focus on teaching other women how to feel their total worthiness.

Worthy Moms is a community of moms that have decided to transform their own lives and start living on purpose. I will take you step-by-step through the coaching tools I have learned to transform my own life. These are proven methods that have transformed thousands of women's lives and it all begins with right where you are at today.

I live with my husband, Mike. Together we have 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren. We live in a small rural community in the Midwest.

I decided after I received some coaching myself, that I would go back to school in my 50's. Yes, I had days where people had thought I had lost my mind, but I was determined to learn and share these tools. I decided to attend the best professional life coaching program in the world, The Life Coach School. As soon as I became certified, I began to help other women with adult children.

I left my corporate management position to pursue my passion for helping others that have experienced similar circumstances and to give back to the world.
