HABITS
DOUBLE DOWN IN Q4
September 30, 2022
It’s here! Q4 starts tomorrow. All those strategic plans, goals and objectives you worked on a year ago. How are they coming? Where have you achieved more than you expected? Where have you checked the box – good work? And where are you off course? What are your metrics telling you about your success?
Take a look at your well-thought out plans and figure out the ONE THING that will help you get where you want to go by year-end.
What’s one habit you know you need to START to fuel your success?
What’s one thing you need to STOP doing to promote your success?
What’s one mindset SHIFT that will significantly change your course?
Answer these questions and then pick ONE. Just one. And build it into your routine so that you support your own success.
Here’s what I found when I did this exercise:
The habit I need to START is non-organic lead generation. All the work we’re doing is based on our own networks and the people we meet in person and virtually. As a small business we need a wider funnel to be able to make a bigger impact.
The thing I need to STOP is extending my hours. I chose small business so that I had more control of my time. In particular, I wanted to be home when my kids got off the bus. Well, I am but I’m always finishing a task or trying to do one more thing that’s on my list. That’s on me. That’s a bad habit and one I need to address.
The MINDSET that would promote my success is “everything is going according to plan”. I’m always trying to push timelines and do more in a compressed period of time. That’s the joy and the pain of small business ownership. Being more realistic and patient would serve me well.
I choose number two. I will be present with my daughters when they get home from school. They will appreciate it (I think) and I will enjoy it. I made this choice because my life is about so much more than my business.
PICK ONE HABIT TO NAIL BEFORE YEAR-END.
